WWE NXT Preview (10/14/25) – What’s Next After NXT ShowDown?
WWE

NXT Showdown took place last week, where we saw some of the best from NXT compete against some of the best from TNA. Years ago, we never thought it would be possible to see TNA wrestlers compete against WWE competitors, but here we are.

The matches were great, as expected. Overall in the show, TNA and NXT were tied with match wins, so technically neither brand won the night. So where do we go from here? What does this mean for this week’s NXT?

Here is what is scheduled for this Tuesday’s NXT.

Matt Cardona Back in a WWE Ring

While tensions are still high between NXT and TNA, Josh Briggs has some unfinished business with Matt Cardona. On the September 30 edition of NXT, Matt Cardona interfered in Briggs’ match against Myles Borne.

This interference by Cardona not only cost Briggs the match, but also cost Briggs his chance to be on Team NXT at NXT Showdown. During NXT Showdown, both men barged into the General Manager, Ava’s, office, demanding a match against one another.

This will be an exciting match to watch as it will be Matt Cardona’s first match back under WWE since his release back in 2020. Over the past five years, he has worked hard and reinvented himself as a performer; now he gets to bring it back to the company that had previously let him go. It will be moving and refreshing to see Matt Cardona compete in a WWE NXT ring rather than Zack Ryder.

Who do you think will pick up the victory this week? Will Matt Cardona pick up his first victory under WWE in five years?

Who is Next to Challenge the NXT Women’s Champion?

At NXT Showdown, Jacy Jayne and Sol Ruca were the last two women standing from Team NXT. They secured the win for their team, but now Jacy Jayne must refocus on defending her championship.

There is currently no number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship, but that will change this week. A battle royal will be held to determine who will be next to challenge Jacy Jayne.

There may even be some TNA stars in the mix. Maybe it isn’t over after all with the feud with TNA.
