(AP Photo/Tony Avelar)It was supposed to be automatic. The Eagles were just supposed to show up against the Raiders and it was going to be a laugher. The Eagle offense, while it had been inconsistent throughout the year, was going to have a field day, pouring on the points against an anemic Oakland defense. Even if they couldn't score, at least the defense would crush JaMarcus Russell and the Raider offense.Well, that's why you play the games. Putting forth their most embarrassing effort since tying the Bengals last season, the Eagles failed to score a touchdown and lost, 13-9, to the Raiders. There were too many players at fault in this game to just single out one, especially on offense, where the Eagles were out of sync all day. Donovan McNabb had barely any time in the pocket all game as he was sacked six times and was constantly being rushed into poor throws. That caused the Eagle passing game to be inefficient and with no running game to speak of, the Eagles fail...

It's Time to End the Trotter Experiment
We all love Trotter, but it's time to pull the plug.Bringing Jeremiah Trotter back to Philly was a long shot to begin with, but now it's become obvious that it's not going to work.He didn't do a whole lot against Tampa Bay. He was stonewalled when he attempted to blitz and really was not a lot of help in the running game. On top of that, he was a liability in the passing game, and...
McNabb: Not the most situationally aware fellow...
He caught a lot of heat last year for not knowing how NFL ties work, though he's not the only one -- heck, even intelligent ex-quarterbacks-turned-announcers get it wrong from time to time. But Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb(notes) must carry the grief alone for his clock-butchering boo-boo in his team's 13-9 loss to the Oakland Raiders.Down 10-3 with 27 seconds left in...
Eagles QB Donovan McNabb To Weak A Flak Jacket This Week
Eagles QB Donovan McNabb (rib, shoulder) will wear a flak jacket for the second straight game in Week 6 to protect his mending fractured rib. Head...
Oakland Raiders 13, Philadelphia Eagles 9
What an awful game the Eagles played yesterday as they seemed to think they had another bye week. Donovan McNabb was off in this game completing 22 of 46 passes for 269 yards. Brian Westbrook was one of the few players who came to play for the Eagles in this [...]
Game 5 vs. Oakland: Highs and Lows
HIGHS* DeSean Jackson: Wow. That's all you could say after watching Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson reach and catch - on the run, no less - a 51-yard bomb by Donovan McNabb in the first quarter.* Brent Celek: The young tight end continues to impress, even when the rest of his teammates are playing like a bunch of practice squad players. Celek finished with four catches for...
Donovan McNabb falls into The Black Hole
In the short term, fantasy owners are clearly disappointed with McNabb's dud against the league's most dysfunctional franchise. But the long term issue could the potential loss of starting left tackle Jason Peters, who will undergo an MRI on his sprained knee. McNabb will get a shot at redemption next week against the Washington Redskins. Although the Skins have allowed the...
A Note On Trotter
For the record, I'm not really comfortable with the tone of some of the Trotter criticisms. This is Jeremiah Trotter we're talking about, not some schlub with no history in Philadelphia. The guy at least deserves the more-in-sorrow-that-in-anger treatment when...
Raiders Turn to Winged Rat for Help on Kickoff Coverage
In each of the Raiders two victories this year, they've put up 13 points. With an offense so parlous, the key to victory is to eke out a few scores while winning a war of attrition with their defense. It's usually ineffective, but it worked yesterday in a notable upset at home over the Eagles. It also helps that Donovan McNabb possesses a keen awareness for situational timeouts...
Eagles trade Brandon Gibson for MLB Witherspoon
The NFL Trade Deadline is nothing like the baseball or hockey deadlines but occasionally some teams pull off interesting trades. The Eagles were one of those teams today, trading wide receiver Brandon Gibson and a 5th round draft pick to the Rams for veteran linebacker Will Witherspoon. With Omar Gaither possibly out for a few weeks nursing a foot injury and Jeremiah Trotter being...

Raiders pull out upset win over visiting Eagles
Louis Murphy threw two key blocks to spring Zach Miller's 86-yard touchdown catch, Justin Fargas ran for 87 yards and the Raiders defense harassed Donovan McNabb all day in the Raiders' 13-9 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Surprising Raiders knock off Eagles
RAIDERS 13, EAGLES 9: Oakland provided an emphatic answer to the skeptics dishing out barbs the last few weeks. Louis Murphy threw two key blocks to spring Zach Miller's 86-yard touchdown catch, Justin Fargas ran for 87 yards and Oakland's defense harassed Donovan McNabb all day in a victory over visiting Philadelphia on Sunday. The result was one of the more shocking ones...
Eagles make Vick their No. 2 QB vs. Raiders, push Kolb to No. 3

Eagles Acquire Witherspoon
Well I don't know what I was expecting, but the Eagles made a trade at the deadline today (4pm). The Eagles acquired LB Will Witherspoon from the St. Louis Rams. With the injury (I though it was minor) to Omar Gaither and Jeremiah Trotter still working his way back, we needed help in our linebacking [...]

there's no reason as to why The Eagles should have lost this game.
Not one offensive touchdown, a result of zero execution on offense, dropped passes and no protection on McNabb... This is gonna be a looooooong week.
