Eagles First Day of Draft Analysis

i wanted to know what u thought of the eagles first day of the draft. i loved the trade w/ the panthers and that future 1st rounder. but what the hell is up with these two picks? a dt when we already have two good former 1st rounders? if they wanted depth y not pick a dt later on in the draft. these early picks are supposed to be guys who are goin to be good starters not backups. i think we had greater needs in other areas they could have addressed for future starters (ot, s, cb). i just dont get it. its like the giants pickin a de with their first pick "to be a rotational guy". u dont invest high picks for a fill in guy. and jackson.....y another small pint size reciever? dont we have enough of these wimps. and isnt he just another kevin curtis. how does he fit in our offense w/ him and curtis? we need a big red zone type wr. i was hopin we'd get hardy. i just cant stand our short corners and recievers. i think jackson will be another wr bust drafted by the fat man. and i sure as hell hope the eagles FO dont think this will satisfy the fans call for a #1 wideout. i still want boldin or williams (extra 1st rounder). what u think?

The eagles picked up 2 players who could have gone in the first round for a cheap price while filling needs. They managed to hold onto Lito for the time being which is still a very valuable trading chip,if they so choose, for teams who left the first 2 rounds unfulfilled in the db area. The safeties in this draft obviously aren't so deep as to have reached for them in the first and second rounds. you can find a lineman in any round and turn him into a starter as many teams have proved. even if your not willing to find a project player, the eagles are loading up the next years draft. philadelphia came away from the first day with excitement for this season which not many teams can really say for their first day picks.

well actually those two picks wont do to much this season considering laws is a rotational/backup DT to bunkley and patterson. and jackson wont do anything as a receiver since it takes a couple seasons for wideouts in this offense to come around. the only excitement for this season with these first two picks would be the punt return ability of jackson.....not the kind of contribution or excitement that is needed for a team that needs to win now(could be mcnabbs last yr). i dont see how DT is a need w/ 2 great DT. i still do hope they can bring in a vet wr w/ lito or the 1st rounder.

DELUSIONAL!!!!! Dont you realize that NFL experts are comparing Desean Jackson to AP wide out Steve Smith. Who was a rd. 3 pick 74th overall and he went to a smaller school than Desean Jackson and was a number 1 wideout as was Desean at CAL. Steve Smith also was a...

3x Pro Bowl selection (2001, 2005, 2006)
2x All-Pro selection (2001, 2005)
Co-NFL Comeback Player of the Year (2005)

So just give SPEEDY and AGILE Desean Jackson a chance before you put him and our FO down.

Good job Philadelphia Eagles FO!

calm urself....dont know what "experts" u heard say that...but if he is another steve smith, then y did 31 teams pass on him and 17 passed on him twice! 5 recievers drafted ahead of him. all corners have to do is press him at the line he's not goin anywhere. guys like steve smith are rare and just caus hes small and could just use his speed to get by people in college, u cant do that in the nfl. he's also small very easily could have an injured filled career.

Jackson is recovering from a thumb injury that he suffered in college that scared some teams off. Size also is an issue: Jackson is just under 5-10 and weighs 170 pounds.

with all that being said i really do hope he becomes another steve smith, that would would be great....but c'mon lets get real. i didnt like the first days picks....but i loved the second days picks. so i am not putting the FO down, just for the second rd picks. thought they did great w/ later rounds. and i also like the extra 1st rounder too!! so before u start calling me delusional, ur annoynting jackson as the next steve smith!!.....look in the mirror.

*anointing...sorry im tired
