Michael Irvin wasn't the best football player in the room. He wasn't even the best at his position. But he absolutely stole the show when it came to making people laugh. Recently Yardbarker teamed up with Ronnie Lott and All Stars Helping Kids to throw a Hall of Fame fantasy football draft party. In addition to Irvin and Lott, the event played host to an additional dozen or so past or current stars, including Jerry Rice, Marcus Allen, Warren Moon, Tim Brown, Charles Haley, Brent Jones, Ted Hendricks and Tom Rathman, a former 49ers star who currently coaches Raiders RB Darren McFadden. McFadden attended along with teammate CB Nnamdi Asomugha.
Add this profile as a favorite and you'll be notified in your News Feed whenever we post new content from the event. We've got some interviews on stage, from the green room prior to the event, and also some footage of the draft itself. Each former player in attendance was on hand to help draft a fantasy football team. In case you're wondering, the first "reach" of the night belonged to... well, you'll just have to wait and see. Before the start of the NFL season, we'll release, along with more video, full team rosters drafted by the Hall of Famers.
In the meantime, check out this video of Michael Irvin making the most of his entrance.

Coming to California
Been a couple weeks since I blogged sorry for the delay. We wrap up our workouts this week and then head to California for the Rookie Symposium Sunday. All the coaches are gone so right now we're just lifting. We'll get a small break before training camp starts in late July. I do miss California and I'm looking forward to spending a few weeks at home. I'm also planning...

Yardbarker.. Am I the only one that thinks Eagles fans are NUTZ?
I came across a Eagles thread a while back talking about Nnamdi Asomugha becoming a Eagle. I think I was the first Raider fan, better yet I was the ONLY Raider fan to address that rumor by saying that "He would get tagged", I also said that Nnamdi and Al Davis was working on a deal. Alot of Eagles fans weren't feeling it and said that "It wasn't true"...
Report of Asomugha singing premature
After the earlier report, I have been unable to find any confirmation of the Oakland Raiders coming to terms on a long term deal with Nnamdi Asomugha. It appears that my earlier account was in error and premature. My apologies, and I will do my best to continue to bring you the up to date [...]
History of the Super Bowl Rushing Record
Over the next week and a half I'll be charting out the progressions of some of the Super Bowl Records. Why? Because we all want to learn. The Super Bowl Record was set and broken during each of the first three Super Bowls. First Jim Taylor rushed for 56 yards to lead the way in Super Bowl I. The next year Ben Wilson rushed for 62 yards to help the Packers take back to back...
A Plan to attack the Oakland Raiders' offseason needs
There can be no doubt that the Raiders have gaping holes to fill this offseason. While the first order of business will be locking down Nnamdi Asomugha and Justin Fargas to long term deals, followed closely by ensuring that important role players like Jarrod Cooper will return next year. Once the Raiders have gotten those players taken care of, it will be time to attack the holes...
Mets Looking At Rangers All Star, Michael Young
Tim Brown, at Yahoo Sports, is reporting that that the Texas Rangers are shopping All Star second baseman, Michael Young.
The Texas Rangers are quietly shopping shortstop Michael Young, said an AL executive whose team is in the market for a shortstop.
Young, 32, will start to draw on a five-year, $80-million contract extension in 2009. The contract grants him full no-trade rights...
History of the Super Bowl Rushing TD Record
Over the next week and a half I'll be charting out the progressions of some of the Super Bowl Records. Why? Because we all want to learn. The Super Bowl Rushing TD record is pretty simple. The record was set in Super Bowl I when Elijah Pitts had two touchdowns. This record lasted for 31 years. Along the way it was tied by Larry Csonka (VIII), Pete Banaszak (XI), Franco Harris...
What the hell with Josh Beckett already?
Am I on crack or drugs or is Josh Beckett already being written into tales where he was, without any question, the greatest pitcher to ever live? Take this Tim Brown article at Yahoo. I have nothing against Tim Brown other than the fact that he shares a name with a despicable Notre Dame wide receive...
Justin Fargas and the Re-Commitment to Excellence
Last Friday, The Steering Committee for the Oakland Raiders Booster Clubs presented Justin Fargas and Nnamdi Asomugha with the Commitment to Excellence Award for 2008.
There is no higher honor for a Raider player as it is an award voted on by teammates. Fargas has won the award two years running and this marks the second time that Asomugha was presented with the prestigious honor...

Brad Penny and Larry Bowa are involved in a inter-continental cat fight courtesy of Yahoo Sports’ Tim Brown and the LA Times’ Dylan Hernandez.

Why I Think Favre Is Coming Back
Yesterday, Brett Favre made a few comments that some in the media have taken to indicate that he is not returning for another season next year. "I had a blast working with these guys. It was a lot of fun", for example. Of course, any player on any non-playoff team could have made the same comment, and it would have just been standard end-of-season wrapup talk. When Favre says it...
Raiders' fake field goal blows up in Cable's face
So now I guess it's official. Well, at least as official as it can be before Raiders owner Al Davis goes to the overhead projector at his next press conference and outlines the reasons why interim coach Tom Cable won't be coaching his team next season.
Cable looked like a short-timer from the moment Davis chose him to replace the fired Lane Kiffin. But after what took...
Matsui to the Mariners?
From Yahoo's Tim Brown:One source mentioned a potential three-way deal that would send outfielder Hideki Matsui from the New York Yankees to the Seattle Mariners for a pitching prospect, perhaps Ryan Rowland-Smith. The Yankees would package the prospect with second baseman Robinson Cano and ...
