SHOCKEY TO SAINTS ALREADY IN PLACE?

SHOCKEY TO SAINTS ALREADY IN PLACE?

There's a kinda-sorta report from PFW that the Giants and the Saints might have already worked out a deal that would send tight end Jeremy Shockey to New Orleans.

The Giants would receive the Saints' second-round pick (No. 40 overall) and other draft picks

If PFT is correct about this, this may take the Saints out-of-the Lito sweepstakes.

also make the giants offense a bit easiser to handle

SHOCKEY NOT AWARE OF TRADE

In response to reports that a trade possibly is in place that would send tight end Jeremy Shockey from the Giants to the Saints, a league source tells us that Shockey has not been notified of the potential transaction.

It doesn't mean that a trade won't happen, or that a trade isn't already in place.

And if the goal of the Giants is to keep the deal under wraps until the Saints are on the clock at No. 40, there's no reason for either team to let Shockey in on the news. It's well known that Shockey wants out of New York, and he reportedly has told friends that he'd welcome a trade to the Saints.

yes .. I saw that also
Mike has a big article on it ... but something definitly is happening with this,
odd ...why the Giants don't tell him anything ?
maybe they aren't on speaking terms ?

Though it is now widely expected that the New York Giants will trade tight end Jeremy Shockey to the New Orleans Saints, John Clayton of ESPN.com reports that the two sides are at odds over compensation for Shockey, who was a first-round draft pick of the Giants in 2002.

Per Clayton, the Giants want more than a second-round pick; Clayton suggests that the Saints aren't even sold on the idea of giving up more than a third-rounder.

Still, Clayton says that a deal is "likely" to get done.

The Giants have already given Shockey, who broke his leg in December, a physical, and they'll share the results with the Saints if there isn't enough of an opportunity for New Orleans to conduct it's own poking and prodding of Shockey in time to do the deal before the pick(s) are on the clock.

I think the Saints should do this move. It helps their offense. It also helps the Giants because it gets a bad seed out the locker room. He hated that a rookie was out playing him while he was injured. The Giants also dont have to worry about throwing him the ball because he wines. The rookie Boss played really good and was a better blocker than Shockey

well ...indirectly I guess this would basicly change Eagle plans,of dealing Lito to the Saints if they lose their #2 pick.
I have no idea on the Saints selections ... do they have extra-selections,we woukd be interested in ?
