What's up, Yardbarkers? We're happy to let you know that we'll be on location in NYC covering this year's NFL Draft. I've spent the last 24 hours speaking with NFL coaches, scouts, players, analysts, and I'm looking forward to sharing insider information with y'all.
The Yard will be inside Radio City Music Hall on both Saturday and Sunday, covering all seven rounds in addition to pre-Draft events with Jake Long, Darren McFadden, Glenn Dorsey, Chris Long, Vernon Gholston and Matt Ryan. USC LB Keith Rivers will live-blog his Draft Day experience from his home in Lake Mary, Florida, and that's exclusive content that you'll only be able to get in the Yard.
With Michigan OT Jake Long already off the board, as the #1 selection to the Miami Dolphins, the St. Louis Rams are on the clock. Smart money says they take a defensive lineman, either a tackle like Glenn Dorsey, or a defensive end like Vernon Gholston or Chris Long. I just returned from a luncheon where I had the opportunity to speak at length with former Rams RB Marshall Faulk, who tells me it's down to Long or Dorsey. Also in attendance was the Rams' senior writer, who says he prefers Long but he thinks Dorsey will ultimately be the guy.
If Dorsey is the guy in St. Louis, Atlanta will probably take Matt Ryan. If Dorsey slips past #2, then Ryan immediately becomes the round-one question mark, but it's unlikely he would drop past Baltimore at #8.
