tcbailey24's Top 20 Quarterbacks

The NFL season is fast approaching and what better way to get ready for football than countdown the top 20 players at each skill position? My 7 part series will include exactly that as I will breakdown the top 20 at QB, RB, WR, TE, LB, CB, and S. every other day. Today, the series kicks off with the quarterbacks. Hope you enjoy!

1. Tom Brady, Patriots: How can you not have him #1? Brady had a career year last year and he has 3 Super Bowl rings

2. Peyton Manning, Colts: Peyton is one of the hardest working and most prepared QB's in the league and it shows on Sunday

3. Drew Brees, Saints: Yes, Brees is #3, as he puts up great numbers each week

4. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers: Ben is a top 5 QB as he is a leader and knows how to make plays on Sunday. He also has a Super Bowl ring

5. Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks: Matt has consistently lead the Seahawks to the playoffs each year and shows that he is one of the best

6. David Garrard, Jaguars: Garrard emerged last year as a confident and consistent QB, only throwing 3 INT's

7. Carson Palmer, Bengals: Palmer puts up huge numbers each week as he has 2 great WR's in Chad Johnson and T.J. Housmandzadeh

8. Derek Anderson, Browns: Derek also emerged last year and became a leader for the Browns, who just missed the playoffs

9. Eli Manning, Giants: Eli showed great courage last year when he and the Giants went on a great run to a Super Bowl victory

10. Jay Cutler, Broncos: Cutler has showed many flashes of great talent so far and this season should be Jay's breakout year

11. Tony Romo, Cowboys: Romo has thrived in the Cowboy offense, especially with T.O. and Marion Barber

12. Trent Edwards, Bills: Trent showed last year that he could be a great starting QB in the league and lead the Bills to 7 wins as a rookie

13. Marc Bulger, Rams: If not injured, Bulger is a top 10 QB, who has always has been fanatastic with the Rams

14. Donovan McNabb, Eagles: Many people will say he is too low, but without all the injuries, McNabb is a great leader who puts up big numbers

15. Jake Delhomme, Panthers: Jake has always been solid, even leading the Panthers to the Super Bowl and multiple playoff appearances

16. Philip Rivers, Chargers: Rivers has shown he can lead the Chargers to the playoffs, now he has to lead them even farther

17. Jeff Garcia, Buccaneers: After all these years, Garcia still is getting it done no matter where he is

18. Vince Young, Titans: Though he may not be the ideal QB, Young has shown he can be great and lead the Titans to the playoffs last year

19. Jon Kitna, Lions: Jon has been solid for many years, even stablizing the Lions last year

20. Matt Schaub, Texans: Schaub and the Texans are poised for the playoffs this year, and it will be up to Scaub to lead them there

Solid list. I think Brees is too high, but I like that you put Romo so low. Hopefully next season's list will include Troy Smith. Yesssir.

I think he'll get a lot better this year and make the list next year

I thought you were taking the day off, Dewey

I tried. And failed.

Sorry but no way Kitna should be top 20. Derek Anderson also shouldn't be that high. He throws the ball with little to no accuracy. Braylon and Kellen have to reach out and dive for every pass.

allright, who should be there instead of Kitna?

Jason Campbell?

anybody but kitna......

Trent Edwards better than any of those guys is a joke.

Jay Cutler is way too high on that list as well. Let's be realistic here. Who would chose him over Romo/ Mcnabb/Bulger (besides a Broncos fan).

I Agree. Jay Cutler is about 5 spots to high. this had to be put together by a broncos fan because that's ridiculous

Let me know if you want to join my NFL fantasy league. I could use more "free" money. Haha :)

i don't play fantasy just so you know

agreed on everything you said. I hope that my fantasy league counterparts come to a similar consensus. Cutler, edwards, bulger all way too high. I wouldn't put mcnabb in the top 5 myself, but he certainly slips into the top 10 due to lack of competition.

Cutler over McNabb???? Is this a joke??? Derek Anderson over McNabb??? This list has to be a joke!!!!

at least Cutler and Anderson play, McNabb is hurt all the time

At least McNabb plays in relevant games like the SB has Cutler done that.

it's a "what have you done for me lately" list and mcnabb ain't done anything lately.

thank you

Then why is Bulger on the list he didn't do anything lately. You said " who has always has been fantastic with the Rams" Been is the key word so going by your logic either McNabb is an easy top ten because 5 pro bowls, 4 straight NFC championship games, going to a SB, turning a team aroung from 5-11 to 11-5 his second year, having the third best TD to INT ratio of ALL-TIME or the second lowest Pass to INT ratio of ALL-TIME, or the 4th fastest QB in the History of the NFL to reach the 50 win plateau , and one of seven players with 25,000+ pass yards and 2,500+ rush yards makes him fantastic or Bulger is to low because he has done anything lately either way you know McNabb should be lower like top 3 just like his stats make him third best when healthy but I do agree to some extent that due to injures he recently is top 10.

no its not a 'what have you done for me lately', its 'what are you gonna do for me', thats where all these predictions will go wrong. Putting Eli up there before romo just because the Giants D stood out throughout the playoffs is misguided at best. And I am partial to dislike both of them.
What are these rankings based on, skill of the quarterback, or value he has within his own system.
I will look forward to your baseless rankings in the future.
I know I'm a pessimistic prick, so save it.

And Cutler has had how many winning seasons? Umm...let's start with the most recent season of 7-9. So that would be ZERO.

hmmm 30th ranked defense against the run? Do the math!

yeah, the offense was fine, the defense on the other hand was pretty bad

Latinferno does make a compelling argument because what has Cutler done for me latley. Nothing really now that I think about what has he achieved in his career? Other then him being you favorite maybe?

Pretty good list TC. I think that you have Garrard a little high but based on a "What have you done for me lately" scale, I think it's about right. Derek Anderson is going to be higher on the list next year when you do it though.

cutler is too high, edwards being that high is a joke..

I agree mostly... Id put Big ben lower by a few I have seen some inconsistency and not quit matured IMO.
Philip Rivers much higher.... he is a great leader, he has what it takes to win.
Cutler is defly top 20 but maybe lower, I'm not sold on him yet, but know he probably is gonna be top 10 or 5 soon enough.
Vince young.... he somehow knows how to win but something like Vick in a very non-quarterback like fashion.
I also see McNabb at 3 or 4 here when he is healthy. But truly he makes great decisions and rarely throws Ints. When unhealthy i still see him top 10... his tsats at least prove that.
I think Garrard has all the potential in the world.... expect a lot from that guy
D. Anderson looked great, a good season might land him in top 10 next year as well

your right Mcnabb best feature might be the low INT column at the end of the year, every year.

*stats

yeah #5 needs to get out there and show he still one of the best if he plays all year he will be a top 5 top 10 QB in the NFL tc great job the list is good

thanks, McNabb would be in the top 5 if not for the injuries

Thank you for saying that.

solid rundown...Brady as 1...NE thanks you...lol....Rivers showed some serious sack last year as a leader with toughness...Peyton and Brady are so close as to be 1 and 1a, on the side we all know TB won't put up those 07' numbers-He needs TE help and is asking alot to match the gaudiness of last year's stats, and will be curious to see Peyton with a mildly diluted arsenal-Wayne and Clark can weather that I'm guessing...I know he has gotten dogged, but for some reason always liked Bulger, just has to be more consistent...the first four on list you really could interchange and Brees; the guy can chuck the rock and is smart...he has the numbers no doubt, needs to stay healthy-should be able to if Duece and Bush really help take some pressure off ...Anderson and Garrard due for huge seasons as both their teams are on the rise...and I'm predicting a true veteran huge season for SB winner Eli...he's mentally all set now, big year for him, but for the whole season this time...jury is out on Romo, can't read this guy at all and what he wants to be style-wise

TC don't u think Romo should be higher??? I know he hasn't won in the playoffs but he's only played a season and a half...no way I think garrard, brees, eli, cutler(sorry lol), anderson and even hasselbeck should be ahead of him...I really believe after this season that romo can put himself behind only brady and peyton...but I guess we'll see

trent edwarts..cutler...anderson...garrard..hasselbeck..all in front on mcnabb..wow..get a grip...but hey its ur OPINION..im glad wer not going on facts..

1. Brady 2. P. Manning 3. McNabb 4. Garrard 5. Romo 6. Brees 7. Big Ben 8. Brees 9. Palmer 10. Hasslebeck

Give McNabb a Reggie Wayne n an injured Marvin Harrison n then ill give you a superbowl team. He can do it w/o the big weapons n wen he had one he was a top QB if not the best that year. Big Ben hasnt done anything. He has a great running team w/ an amazing D. Eli shouldn't b in the same league as any of the top 10 Qb's except Hasselbeck. Garrard is amazing. Romo is the Arod of football. He sucks wen it matters. Palmer basically has the AFC WR's on his team so he better be good but i dont think hes that great.

Totally disagree. Brees at 8?! He deserves to be 6 or so...wait...

Bump Romo, Brees and maybe Palmer (depending on WR situation) over McNabb and Garrard, and I would agree with you...

Great list but brees is on it twice.

Great list. I'm amazed you were able to knock Cutty down to 10. I know if this was my list I wouldn't have been able to do it. Nice job, TC.

I can't believe you put Tom Brady at #1.

Probably should be Peyton considering he doesn't act like a baby when his team starts losing.

all one's perspective, it really could be the opposite as Brady usually yells at himself, a tad less babyish too on field, than Manning...all heresay though...two tough hombres but glad I like the guy playing outdoors in cold ass Northeast...both have great character and can lead without talking and the best at audibles as of now, of all QBs...CB list is needed, could be wrong, but it's high time...Cromartie, #1 CB

Replace Trent Edwards and put - Matt Schaub. lol.

I love what you said about Cutler. Jay in his second year threw for almost 3500 yards 20 TD's had a QB rating of 88.1 and the ONLY reason they did not make the playoffs was because of their defense.
How can you say Vince Young helped the Titans get to the playoffs? The ONLY reason the Titans got there was their defense. Vince threw for 35 yards against Oakland and THEY WON THE GAME!! 35 yards in one game by a pro QB?? Come on!!
If you think that I am biased towards Cutler - I am. I work at Vandy and have watched Jay since he was a freshman. You can say well Vandy did not do much and that is true but Cutler was an All American as a freshman and was twice SEC Offensive player of the year in the toughest division in college football.
Don't take my word. Google what QB guru Mike Martz thinks about Cutler and while you are there see what Jaws, Steve Young, Phil Simms, and Mort from ESPN say.
Oh yeah here in Titan country they had a radio interview of new OC and former Denver OC Mike Heimerdinger about working with Jay Cutler and Mike said he can become a top three NFL QB.
I guess these guys know more than Joe average fan?
God Bless you all

I know im Biased cuz i love the Eagles but just cuz Mcnabb Has Had Off Seasons doesnt mean he isnt A Better QB an Still is to this Day i dont think he should be 14 he should be between 8-11 Trust me because Romo Is Overated he has only beaten the Eagles Once in his 1 and a half yrs playing.... Great QB but til he wins a Playoff Drop him Below Mcnabb.... Marc Bulger another Good QB due to injury to himself and his Teamates caused him not to have great numbers i still wouldnt put him Ahead of Donovan Mcnabb He isnt As Accurate as Mcnabb an dont have Better Numbers than Mcnabb and hasnt led his Team to as Many Playoffs and a Superbowl as Mcnabb An win an NFC Championship... Drop Bulger Please.... i cant speak for Eli manning because he did a Solid Job last yr despite all the Criticism and inconsitency but he proved to be the QB underdog of the Yr to go over the hump he may not be as accurate as Mcnabb an may not have his numbers but They are SB champions thanks to his help an there Defense so i cant ask to drop him..... Carson Palmer and Derek Anderson Come on These Guys Gotta Make it to the Playoffs and Win Playoffs... I know Wild Cards are considered playoffs( which neither made it to last yr) but if u dont win that one than please dont rank the higher.... Not saying they are Great QBs they are Consistant an can make the plays and have the Offense to carry them but with out a Strong Defense they wont make it far but i would put Derek Anderson ahead of Carson Palmer but i would put Carson Behind Mcnabb..... Trent Edwards is Spotty to Me Some Games he Is a Hell of A QB an some Games he Flukes the Game.. Perfect Example Last yr They Tore apart Dallas but Dallas some how prevailed when it mattered the most if they lost that Game they would of been 12-4 but we wont take away from dallas cuz they did good during the Season.... But i think The Bills will Make a Playoff appearance this yr if not defintly next yr... i expect if they do this yr maybe 9-7 anything can happen... Other than that Everything else Seems fine i know im Bias an its my own opinion but give me ur insight thanks

I understand your bias towards mcnabb and if this was 4 or 5 yrs ago maybe more ppl would agree that mcnabb should be higher...Unfortunately he can't stay healthy for an entire yr so he shouldn't be ranked higher at all...to say romo has beaten u guys only once in his yr and half isn't that bad considering thats only THREE games that he has played against u guys...don't worry he'll have plenty more chances against u guys and the rest of the league...and to say buffalo tore apart dallas isn't accurate either cause not once during that game was dallas out of it...if we got "tore up" then we would have never had a chance in that game but we were in it the entire time despite MANY mistakes by romo...hey I'm not putting down mcnabb cause he is a class guy but perhaps his ranking here might be right on for the exception of bulger and edwards being ahead of him.
