Bryant wouldn’t be bad as a potential replacement. Jonathan Mayo calls him the best power college bat in the draft, and Baseball America says he has tremendous power potential. There are questions of whether he can stick at third for the long-term. He’s got a plus arm, but some feel he might have to move to right field or first base in the future. He’s also dealt with strikeouts, which combined with the power, the arm, and the possibility to move off third base, kind of makes him like a Pedro Alvarez-lite. The Pirates are weak at third base in their minor league system, so Bryant wouldn’t have anyone pushing him off the position. PREVIOUS DRAFT HISTORY 2010: Selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 18th round, 546th overall. 2013 DRAFT RANKINGS Baseball America: #12 (2/1/2013) Jonathan Mayo: #7 (11/20/2012) Keith Law: N/A Perfect Game: #8 (1/21/2013) STATS
