Pro Football Zone:
49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman told the media today that there’s still no timetable for Michael Crabtree’s (achilles) return for this season.
“I don’t think there’s any specific day or date,” said Roman, per 49ers.com.
“If we can get him back this year,” Roman added, “that’d be gravy.”
Roman still believes there’s a chance Crabtree will play this year.
“I think the way he’s working now, it’s quite possible, but again, I think you probably want to talk to the medical staff,” the 49ers play-caller said.

San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore is off to a slow start in 2013, and that is due in large part to his team’s overall poor play. The Niners have been forced to abandon the run over the past two weeks after digging themselves into an early hole, resulting in just 20 touches in […]
The San Francisco 49ers will try to bounce back from back to back blowout losses as they travel to St. Louis and face the 1-2 St. Louis Rams on Thursday night. The 49ers are currently in unfamiliar territory as they enter the game with their first loosing record since Jim Harbaugh took over the team a couple of seasons ago.
The Rams pose significant threat because they have always...
Is Colin Kaepernick coming back to earth after his sudden rise? Can Jim Harbaugh get his team through it's toughest stretch since he's been the head coach? Is the read option so 2012? It seems the 49ers lost some confidence at the hands of the Seahawks, and it carried over against Indianapolis this past Sunday.
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith allegedly was so drunk he crashed into a tree, so drunk he was pressing the accelerator long after impact apparently unaware of said tree, so drunk he reportedly blew a .15 at 7 a.m. on a Friday.
And this was not enough to keep him from playing football Sunday because - wait for this - "sitting somebody down and paying them to sit...
San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore didn’t see the ball in the final 25 minutes of Sunday’s loss to the Colts, however, Gore says his own stats isn't the focus. He says that the team hates to lose, and another loss to the Colts just plain made him mad. He denies that he confronted coach Jim Harbaugh and yelling at him for not getting the rock more.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Evan Silva, the 49ers are expected to be without Aldon Smith for a few weeks as he goes through rehab.
ESPN's Adam Schefter said on NFL Insiders to expect Aldon Smith to be away from #49ers for "at least a few weeks." Face STL, HOU, ARZ next.

The 49ers defense was looking shaly...
The San Francisco 49ers’ were missing some big names on the practice field Monday, according to their official team web site. Patrick Willis and Nnamdi Asomugha were amongst the names of non-participants due to injury. That’s not exactly comforting for fans heading into their week 4 divisional matchup with the St. Louis Rams. After all, San Francisco’s defense has yet to look...
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick struggled mightily in the 49ers’ 27-7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts Sunday at Candlestick Park. With tight end Vernon Davis shelved due to a left hamstring strain, the 6-foot-5, 230 pound Kaepernick completed just 13 of 27 pass attempts for 150 yards with no touchdowns and one interception against Indianapolis. “I’m frustrated with myself,” said...
Donte Whitner is saying what we all know, but he needs to get used to the defensive rules of the NFL, because their not changing anytime sooner.
Referee’s seem to throw a flag anytime a offensive player stays down after a big hit, and Whitner, the 49ers hard hitting safety was on the receiving end of one of those flags after he drilled Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw in the flat...
Last week: 2 (-3)
The 49ers get a pass from me for losing in Seattle because the Seahawks are near impossible to beat at home and they get a pass for last week because they were without Vernon Davis and they were very possibly distracted by the Aldon Smith situation. The whole team played like they showed up to the practice facility at 7 AM drunk. Jokes ahead, I have no idea why...
San Francisco All-Pro linebacker Patrick Willis injured his groin and is not expected to be available for Thursday's game with St. Louis.Fantasy Spin:Willis will have an MRI on Monday night, but with just four days until the next game its unlikely that he can rehab in time. Add in Aldon Smith being placed on the reserve/NFI list and you have a vastly weaker 49ers' defense.

If you were 49ers CEO Jed York, what would you have done...???
Would you have played troubled DL Aldon Smith after his run-in with the law early Friday morning knowing you were going to have him seek help, or would you have had him seek help immediately...???
The 49ers played him on Sunday against the Colts, and the HQ isn't sure, but...
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Smith has been put on the Non-Football injury list and will likely miss one month of the season while he is in rehab.
Hopefully, Smith gets the help he needs and this isn’t just window dressing by him and the 49ers.
San Francisco All-Pro linebacker Patrick Willis (groin) said he is "hopeful" that he'll play Thursday against the Rams, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.Fantasy Spin:Willis left Sunday's game with a groin injury and doesn't have a lot of time to heal with the 49ers on a short week. With Aldon Smith out while he deals with alcohol issues, the 49ers defense...
