Mighty Quinn Media Machine:
That's the position in the batting order that David Ortiz has been dropped down to, starting tonight in Minnesota, as he returns to the DH slot. J.D. Drew will be hitting third, and Mike Lowell has the night off, as Terry Francona wants to rest him with all the games on artificial turf this week. Kevin Youkilis is playing third while Jeff Bailey is playing first.Well, let's hope Big Papi is inspired by this move to a new number slot in the batting order...

Red Sox Close but No Cigar or Win
Dice-K made his second start since coming off the DL, and he pitched good, but not great. Dice went 5 innings, threw 102 pitches, allowed 9 hits leading to 3 earned runs and he had 6 strikeouts!! So it wasn't a great start for 5 innings, but not bad for his 2nd start since being hurt and if he had some run support, he might have got the win. Last night was a really slow game...

Rumors Involving The Struggling David Ortiz!
Does it happen tonight? Time will tell us very soon as the the rumors involving the struggling David Ortiz have been running wild for days now. Do the Boston Red Sox and manager Terry Francona make the difficult decision to drop Ortiz down in the Boston line-up? With the Sox game scheduled to get underway [...]
Wallys World - A Simple Game No- More
Ti's such a fun game, theoretically simple; implied and practical at every end. One hits a spherical object with an extended and hardened artifact, the sphere travels proportionate to the effort applied then runs to a pre-designated place before the object batted is retrieved and applied at that designated area. However, over time this game has become complicated and refined...
QUICK UPDATE - David Ortiz 6th - J.D. Drew 3rd!
QUICK UPDATE - David Ortiz 6th - J.D. Drew 3rd! The Boston Red Sox just made it official as they just announced that Ortiz will move to the 6th spot and Drew will jump up to the 3rd spot in the Red Sox line-up. The Red Sox have hopefully silenced all the critics and the skeptics [...]
Projecting Big Papi
Prior to Thursday night's game, the folks at Bodog posted some odds on how David Ortiz will fare the rest of the year. Most notably:Ortiz, as you likely know, has hit one home run thus far this season, on Wednesday night against the Blue Jays. Assuming he averages 3.34 PAs per Boston game the rest of the year -- which is what the projections I'll get to in a minute said...
Klapisch: AL East Will Come Down To Yanks-Sox
From Bob Klapisch:Trying to call a division race in late May is the exercise of fools, not to mention professional suicide. That disclaimer aside, who here gets the feeling this just isn’t the Rays’ year in the AL East?Better question: why does it feel like this war will come to a couple of familiar superpowers – the Yankees and Red Sox? Maybe because it is. Going into Tuesday...

The Onion: "Manny Ramirez to David Ortiz: 'Road Trip'"
A must-read. Ramirez and Ortiz were subsequently sighted exiting a Terre Haute, IN 7-Eleven store wearing Indianapolis 500 baseball caps and brand new neon-orange sunglasses. "The bigger one kept asking if he should get the hat, and the other one said he would buy one if [Ortiz] did," 7-Eleven cashier Kip Petrun told reporters. "They must have tried on sunglasses...
I'm An Employee. I Follow Orders.
Those were David Ortiz' words before last night's game with the Minnesota Twins, as he was officially moved to the sixth spot in the batting order.Papi went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk in his spot. It was the first time he batted in that slot since May of 2004. The Red Sox had tried sitting him for a short stretch, with little success. So the next move was obvious, down...
Memorial Day Quick Hitters
Kevin Youkilis looks on in yesterday's game (Boston Globe Photo)Happy Memorial Day to everyone out there, here are your links...The Red Sox averted a sweep at the hands of the Mets, winning 12-5. None of this was thanks to a continually slumping David Ortiz, who is below the Mendoza line. The Sea Dogs got back to .500 with a 8-3 win over Connecticut.
David Ortiz's Quest For the Mendoza Line: Mission Accomplished
In March when I purchased tickets for the Red Sox Mets matchup on Sunday the 24th little did I know that I was going to be in attendance for something so wonderfully delicious. I never could have imagined that on the day I sat on the Budweiser Roof that I would see David Ortiz go 0-5 and watch his average dip below the Mendoza line a full 154 at bats into the season. Oh sweet and...
Red Sox weekly recap (Week 7)
Not sure why the feed on Yardbarker isn't working right now...Here's week 7 of my weekly Red Sox recap:Ouch. The first time that instant replay had to be used at Fenway this season, the Boston Red Sox get screwed big time. After a lead off walk and then striking out the next two batters, Jonathan Papelbon gave up a two-run home run (his second HR on the season), which eventually...
Mike Lowell and His Surgically-Repaired Hip Say, "Hi." Then They Kick Your Ass.
Count me among the fools who thought aloud that Mikey Lowell could be an offensive casualty in his first full season back from hip surgery, an albatross with a bat, dragging the entire team down. But Scenic has been bringing the noise thus far, hitting .305 and standing second only to Jason Bay in team RBIs. Yesterday he had four hits in the DH spot, giving him seven over the last...
