Via the Dallas News:Wednesday is
when teams officially can begin talking to free agents, and Kidd is
expected to get overtures from several teams: Cleveland, Portland,
Boston, New York and perhaps the Lakers. All of those
teams except for Portland are stymied by the salary cap. The Knicks can
only offer their mid-level exception, expected to be between $5 million
and $6 million. Kidd earned $21 million last season. This is the first time I've read the Celtics and Jason Kidd in the same sentence. The 36-year old Kidd can still fill up a stat sheet: 9 ppg, 8.7 apg, 6 rpg and 2 spg. But he's slowed down tremendously. At some point soon, he'll look ridiculous playing defense. While I would enjoy seeing Kidd backing up Rondo and at times orchestrating the offense with the first teamers, he will be too expensive. A lot of teams will be chasing Kidd and that means he likely get the full mid-level. I don't want him at that price. Oh yeah.....

Is Cuban going to fork over big money to keep Kidd here? I think he will. He screwed up when traded Devin Harris for Kidd. Now, he's going to have to bite the bullett and pay up.

Jason Kidd in NY?
Jason would have to take a sizeable paycut: “The Knicks, who also acquired the veteran big man Darko Milicic in a draft-night trade, are not done shopping. They will try to re-sign their two restricted free agents, Lee and Nate Robinson, when the negotiating period opens Wednesday. They will also continue their search for a top-flight point guard, with Jason Kidd a primary...

Let's rewind the tape from January, when we were in Dallas and Jason Kidd was talking free agency, which begins Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. and if he would consider the Knicks among his options:

Roddy Beaubois (BO-bwah) breezed through town today and he's pumped about being in Dallas, especially because it means he's not in Oklahoma City, which drafted him 25th.
The French point guard admitted he was happy when he found out he was really going to Dallas.
He's also stoked about getting to learn the point from Jason Kidd, assuming the Mavericks are able to sign...

Jason Kidd May Be Squeezing Pennies Out of a Team Near You
by Matt MooreFiled under: Cavaliers, Knicks, Mavericks, Nets, Trail BlazersOkay, sure, stacking Josh Howard, Jason Terry and former MVP Dirk Nowitzki around him was no more successful than surrounding him with Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson, but you know what they say. 18th time's the charm. And it's in that spirit that Jason Kidd re-enters the NBA Free Agency market...

David Robinson Firm Makes First Investment
When former NBA player David Robinson invests he likes to get a 20 percent return. That doesn’t explain why Robinson’s teamed up with a former Goldman Sachs executive for Admiral Capital Group, a private equity firm.
Here’s the story:

The Rumor Mill on 6/28
Just read an interesting rumor on CelticsBlog. The rumor comes from the website Pick and Roll.
