It was poor out, and the weather sucked on Wednesday, but the Orioles got their fourth win in the last thirteeen games as they beat the New York Mets, 6-4 at the Yard. Nick Markakis went 4-for-4 and Aubrey Huff had a go-ahead homer that made the difference -- a two-run shot -- but the talk yesterday was of Matt Wieters. Well, unless you've been under a rock, Matt Wieters hit his first major league homer and drove in his first runs last night off Met starter Tim Redding. While driving around on business, it seems that the big issue -- or non issue of the day-- of the day (perhaps talk radio was bored) centered around souvenirs. Notably what one should do with a home run ball -- speficially, the first one by Matt Wieters. This is courtesy of Peter Schmuck's blog from the Baltimore Sun:>>> Read More

Wieters Rally

Matt Wieters ignites the Orioles in the bottom of the ninth against the Mets. With New York leading 4-3 and Francisco Rodriguez on the mound, Wieters laces a double into the gap in left-center. Pie runs for him, and after a walk to Reimold, Roberts sacrifices. The bunt doesn’t go too far [...]

Yeah, I Think The Mets Can Trade For Aubrey Huff Now

So what if he occasionally drops a pop-up.Big deal if he's more and more a DH every day.And who cares if sometimes he blasts the city he plays for.He giveth, but he taketh twice as much away. That's good enough for me. And let's get Matt Wieters in the deal too (get off the drugs, blogger.)And it's a shame too. Because while there's no good time to blow a save...

Roto Rush: McCutchen and Wieters Homers? We Can Get Used to This

by Tom HerreraFiled under: MLB Injury Report, MLB Kids Are Alright, MLB Waiver WirePoppin' out the box scores and right into your cubicle, the Roto Rush is your double espresso shot of fantasy baseball advice every weekday. It sure hasn't take long for Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen to get used to the big leagues. Matt Wieters, on the other hand, needed 48 at-bats to...

Aubrey Huff home run hands New York Mets 6-4 loss to Baltimore Orioles

BALTIMORE -- Aubrey Huff's name has been mentioned as a potential trade target for the Mets, and on Wednesday, they got a first-hand demonstration of why that is. Huff drilled a two-run homer off Pedro Feliciano in the seventh inning,...

Aubrey Huff went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and knocked in three as the Baltimore Orioles got by the New York Mets, 6-4, in the second of a three-game interleague series at Camden Yards.

Even Walls Fall Down

See what happens when you don't built an insipidly high left field wall? You might see more than one home run per homestand. Matt Wieters hit a ball that would have been caught at the track by most Met leftfielders had it been struck at Citi Field. At worst it might have gone for two bases. Probably it wouldn't have carried even close to the sixteen-foot-high fence. I'...

Huff's single caps Orioles' late rally

BALTIMORE | Aubrey Huff drove in the winning run with a ninth-inning single off Francisco Rodriguez, capping a two-run rally that carried the Baltimore Orioles past the New York Mets 5-4 on Thursday night. Rodriguez entered the game with a 0.56 ERA and 16 saves in 17 tries. After Matt Wieters hit a leadoff double and Nolan Reimold walked, Brian Roberts laid down a bunt, and the throw...

Huff's The Hero Again, Mets Suffer Further Humiliations

If the Mets were ever going to make a trade for first baseman Aubrey Huff they should have done so BEFORE this series.Huff had his second game-winning hit in a row last night, this time a bases loaded single in the bottom of the 9th off Frankie Boy and let's face it, if you can't rely on Frankie Boy, who CAN you rely on? And the sad part is that you have to spend time emphasising...

Phillies Lose Fourth Straight

The Phillies jumped out to a 2-0 lead, however that didn’t prevent them from falling to the lowly Baltimore Orioles, 7-2, for their fourth consecutive loss. In the first inning, Jayson Werth’s two out, two run double put the Phillies on the board, but the lead did not last long. Rookie sensation Matt Wieters responded with a double of [...]
