RALEIGH -- Brandon Sutter's third goal in four games and a Sergei Samsonov rebound have the Carolina Hurricanes in front of Toronto Maple Leafs, 2-1 with 15 minutes left in the second period. The Canes, winless in the past 10 games, haven't won since Oct. 9, a 7-2 outburst against the Florida Panthers. They've lost four straight, getting out-scored 19-4 but came out strong, even without top-liners Eric Staal and Ray Whitney. Sutter backhanded a shot past Toronto goalie Jonas Gustavsson at 7:51 in the first for the 1-0 lead. He has three goals in six games since being called up from Albany. Samsonov deposited a rebound of a Andrew Alberts shot from the left point for the 2-0 advantage at 17:22. Rod Brind'Amour nearly made it 3-0 but had his shot ring off the left post with 11 seconds left in the period. Toronto center John Mitchell cut the Canes' lead in half with a one-timer from the right point at 1:12 in the second period. Staall missed his secon...
