I’m going to be honest: this was the worst field of candidates for a monthly award since we began doing these a couple of years ago. That’s not to say that Jonny Gomes didn’t have a good month; he did, he had a great June. But runner-up to Gomes in the voting among RN editors...

Bailey’s Gem Broken Down

Homer Bailey limited the Cardinals to two runs over 7 1/3 innings, but was dealt a no-decision in an eventual 7-4 loss on Friday night. It’s a shame that his brilliant outing had to get erased on one swing by the mighty Albert Pujols. Bailey gave up a single to Skip Schumaker to start the [...]

My Week in Sarasota (FSL and a little GCL thrown in)

Before I start, I want to thank Dan Wolfert (GM Sarasota Reds) and Joe Ayrault (Manager Sarasota Reds) for their time, support, and wisdom while I was visiting this past week. I really enjoyed my week at the ballpark. I also want to make clear that the opinions expressed here are mine and mine alone and I’m not a scout or a baseball “insider”…the views expressed...
