MVN:
It appears that Phil Kessel and the Boston Bruins might be ready to part ways. Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said he finds himself at a "philosophical impasse'' regarding the signing of Phil Kessel, his third-year right wing.
MVN Front Page From Goon's World.
It was reported in the Boston Globe, that the Boston Bruins are trying to convince Phil Kessel to accept an offer that would cap their payroll to around $59 million. But Phil Kessel has not been impressed with any of the Boston Bruins offers.
I can't imagine what the line-up in Boston will look like without the talented forward in the mix. I don't think there are any forwards in the current line-up that can score 35-45 goals like Kessel can.
I also am sick and tired of the argument that Kessel isn't physical enough, not everyone is going to check people through the boards.

Burke sets his sight on Bruins' Kessel
Brian Burke was upfront yesterday about his pursuit of restricted free-agent forward Phil Kessel.
Oh Phil, where did it go wrong?
I avoided writing about the Phil Kessel Saga all summer, and did a good job of ignoring it. The only time I talked about it is when somebody asks me what is going on with Kessel or if it comes up in conversation with other Bruins fans. Otherwise, I haven't batted an eyelash.
That ends today. It's no longer summer.
The media storm kicked up quite a bit overnight. There...
Sources: Phil Kessel No Longer Negotiating With Bruins
The Boston Globe is reporting that sources close to the free agency negotiations between the Boston Bruins and right wing Phil Kessel are saying that Kessel is no longer intends to pursue talks with the team any longer. Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe has written that Kessel and Wade Arnott, his agent, have [...]
The situation in Boston is getting worse.
The situation in Boston is only getting uglier by the day. This article basically says what I have thought all along that the current GM Peter Chiarelli is using very simular tactics of the former GM Harry Sinden and Mike O’Connell with their take it or leave it attitude. As a fan I am frustrated because there is a common line of thinking when you score 36 goals are the top goal...
This isn't playing out well.
Being a Sioux fan people are naturally probably starting to wonder why I am so interesting in Phil Kessel and his contract negotiation with the Boston Bruins. I know he played for the much despised Golden Gophers for a season before he left for the NHL. Frankly I wouldn't be as interested in this if he didn’t play for my favorite NHL the Boston Bruins. That being said, as a...
Kessel Takes A Stance
from Kevin Paul Dupont of Bruins Blog,
Phil Kessel has made it clear that he doesn’t intend to negotiate any longer with the Bruins, his Toronto-based agent in recent days informing the Boston front office that the right winger’s priority instead is to sign a free-agent offer sheet with one of the league’s 29 other teams.
All of which doesn’t necessarily mean that...
Mike Augello: KESSEL, BRUINS CUT OFF TALKS
Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe is reporting that talks between the Boston Bruins and Phil Kessel's agent have been cut off and that Kessel is going to sign an offer sheet.
Dupont goes on to say:
At least three clubs -- the Maple Leafs, Rangers and Predators -- have contacted Chiarelli in hopes or making a deal for Kessel. The Leafs in late June offered veteran...
Howard Berger: Is Phil Kessel Worth A First-Rounder?
TORONTO (Sep. 8) â?? The Maple Leafs officially opened their elaborate and gaudy practice facility earlier today in suburban Etobicoke; itâ??s called the â??MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellenceâ?, though the latter term is something that needs to be earned by the Blue & White. In any event, the four-pad structure adjacent to the old Lakeshore Lions Arena is thoroughly...
NHL Morning Papers (Tuesday Edition): Lots of prospect information, which teams have been serious about Phil Kessel and Sidney Crosby’s new friend
With prospect camps starting before training camp begins, there is lots of news about each team's top youngsters. Additionally, there is talk about Dany Heatley reporting to Senators camp, Phil Kessel's availability, Jim Balsillie's new offer and a lot more.
Who would you want on your team?
This is a pretty good question? Who would you rather have on your team former Badger Dany Heatley or former Golden Gopher Phil Kessel. Heatly is the better of the two players. I am not even sure it's a fair comparison. Heatly sets up more goals and Phil not so much. So, who’s it going to be?At face value, the inner GM in me screams Heatley. He’s 6-foot-3, has back-to-back 50...
Who Would You Want On Your Team- Heatley Or Kessel?
from Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News,
Two snipers, one question: Dany Heatley or Phil Kessel?
Who would you take?
With NHL training camps inching closer by the day, there are, by my math, roughly 90-plus goals worth of uncertainty still floating around out there in the unhappy Senator and unsigned RFA Bruin.
Will one or both be wearing new uniforms when the season...
Burke in eye of offer-sheet storm
Yesterday, quietly, Brian Burke reacquired the Leafs 2010 2nd-round draft pick from Chicago. He paid a 2nd and a 3rd to get it. Bob McKenzie kicked today off on TSN.com by noting that the Leafs now have possession of their own 1st, 2nd and 3rd round draft picks for next year - the payment required to put an offer sheet on Phil Kessel and his estimated $4M-$5M salary request.Cue the instant
Kevin Gibson: KGB: Quick Takes
Some random thoughts to ponder before my official 09/10 return on Monday.
The name Redfield T. Baum is becoming legendary like Kenesaw Mountain Landis. Both for the wrong reasons. My take on both, move the Coyotes for the Love of God, and Buck Weaver, only innocent man 90 years ago of the eight. Re-Instate Buck.
Marc Savard assisted on 22 of Phil Kessel's 36 goals last...
