John Smoltz avoided the "one bad inning" syndrome by sucking in all five he pitched today. Is there really anyone left out there that thinks this guy can pitch in the majors, let alone the AL East? He is getting lit up by teams like Washington, Oakland and Baltimore. I sure as hell don't want to see what the Angels or Yankees would do to this guy.Mr. Smoltz - you had a great career, get out with your dignity. Please.

Smoltz got rocked around for nine hits over five innings pitched allowing six runs, one walk, six strikeouts and one home run given up.

There are several options that the Red Sox have when dealing with John Smoltz. But as he is pitching now, they seem to be almost giving away games. So those options need to be explored.
But don't panic yet. John Smoltz is a very smart pitcher, and although he may not have the type of stuff that he used to have. He should still be able to use his mind to get better results...
