Following Sunday's 147-yard performance, Reggie Wayne(notes) leads all wide receivers in public league fantasy scoring. He's averaging 15.0 points per week. Wayne, like his quarterback, has delivered useful fantasy lines with robotic consistency. Check the weekly point totals: Week 1 - 22.0 (1st among WRs)Week 2 - 3.7 (54th)Week 3 - 18.6 (3rd)Week 4 - 13.4 (10th)Week 5 - 12.0 (16th)Week 6 - byeWeek 7 - 14.3 (8th)Week 8 - 20.7 (1st)That's just ridiculous. There are cases where one or two exceptional games can overstate a player's true fantasy usefulness, but that's not the story with Wayne at all. He's finished among the top 10 scorers at his position five times in seven games. Wayne wins his matchup at WR1 basically every week. He clearly belongs in the Fantasy MVP discussion. Wayne also led all players in targets in Week 8, posting the highest total we've seen so far this year... Again, ridiculous. Twenty is a silly number. You'll recall that Peyton...

Take Aways

First thoughts from the aftermath of Sunday's 18-14 win over the 49ers.  As always, all opinions and identifications are temporary until I watch the tape later this week. Reasons to Smile: 7 and 0.  Combined with the Broncos' loss, Indy now has a one game lead on the rest of the conference. The run defense, with one notable exception, played very well.  Aside from...

The Quiet Strength

To the national media he was a big question mark. He's been silent almost all year despite giving a weekly press conference. He's an after-thought when discussing reasons the Colts are 7-0. His name only comes up when it's time for the obligatory, "Everything looks the same, what's different?" question to the players. It's time to give him his due...

Who Looked Good, Who Didn't? Week Eight

For the second time this season, the Colts had to do something extraordinary to put away an opponent. In Week Two, the Colts offense had the football for less than a full quarter of play and still managed to defeat the Miami Dolphins on the road. This week, the Colts used Joseph Addai’s arm, not legs, to seal a victory on a 22-yard pass to Reggie Wayne at the start of the fourth quarter.

Matthew Barrows: 49ers can't finish vs. the best teams

INDIANAPOLIS – Flawless. That was the word the 49ers preached all week as they prepared for the undefeated Colts. They would have to play mistake-free football to hand Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne and Dwight Freeney their first loss of the season. They didn't. As was the case earlier this season in Minneapolis, the 49ers were tougher and hungrier and leading late...
