When the Ravens regrouped today in Owings Mills, they had a lot on their plate. Priorities? They've got to figure out how to start quicker, especially on offense. They've got to do much better on third downs -- on both sides of the ball. They've got to play significantly better run defense. And the pass coverage has to get better. The frightening thing is, they may have to do it without Ed Reed, who is obviously hurting. Whether it's age, scheme, or effort, the defense is a shadow of its former self. It's not even so much about the change from Rex Ryan to Greg Mattison. These guys just aren't as good as they were a year ago, when the defense was still dominate. Now they can't dominate a quarter, less alone a game. The rest of the league has taken notice.
