To Deal or Not to Deal is simply a quick dialogue as to whether a franchise should trade one of their core players. Why Deal Roy Halladay: Their are multiple pieces working in the favor of trading Roy. First the Blue Jays play in by far the hardest division in baseball and over the past few weeks they have proven that they can't really hang with the Red Sox, Rays and Yankees. As a result the Jays should likely be sellers despite their hot start to the season.Secondly and most importantly the Jays need to look at how the Rays built up their team and follow their mode of success, building up the farm system. One way to do so would be trading the most valuable chip prior to the deadline. Being that Halladay is amongst the best pitchers in baseball and is signed through 2010 he would command a bidding war between contenders which likely would result in several premium prospects. These premium prospects would hopefully work in conjunction with some of the Jays younger talent (Romero, Rio...

I don't want to talk about it ...

And neither does The Ack. But, really, we're left with no choice. It's not news that J.P. Ricciardi will listen to offers for Roy Halladay; that's his job, fools. What is news, and worthy of a drink or seven, is the fact that Ricciardi has "spoken with [Doc] and prepared him for the possibility that he will bring trade possibilities to the pitcher in the weeks or months ahead."Now...

Phillies need to get Halladay deal done

I don’t often advocate for my team to “mortgage the future” so to speak, but I do ocassionaly make an exception when that player immediately makes my team the prohibitive favorite to make the World Series. That player has become available. That player is Roy Halladay. The Phillies are in prime position to do what no other National [...]

Halladay...Celebrate.

That's what some lazy punster of a headline writer will say if and when Roy Halladay gets traded. Because his will be the game changer deal of the free agency. So, because we can't trust J.P. Riccardi to make a good decision? I will tell you what teams would be the best fits.5. MilwaukeeThe Brewers have interesting pieces, but with such a dearth of pitching prospects and the double...

What would you give up for Roy Halladay?

It would cost a fair number of prospects. Yes, maybe Justin Smoak and a pitching prospect. Maybe even a catcher too. FoxSports.com writes about the teams that could have an interest in Halladay and includes the Rangers. But the bigger issue would be the Rangers' ability to afford Halladay's long-term salary. Halladay is signed through 2010, so it wouldn't be just for this season...

One Dumb Rosenthal Column Sends Fans into Frenzy Over Halladay

If there's one thing Ken Rosenthal knows how to do, it's create a shitstorm of unsubstantiated rumours and malarkey that coats the entire baseballblogosphere with its retched brown inaccuracy. But this time, he got a quote straight from J.P. Ricciardi's mouth regarding otherworldly pitcher and eventual All Star Game starter Roy Halladay's trade prospects: We have to see what's out...

Come To Think of It: With Holliday and Halladay, It's Christmas in July

I know it’s July, but some teams are already going “Holliday” shopping. Or perhaps “Halladay” shopping? That’s because we’re in that month of the season where MLB teams not only face the trade deadline, but are looking at two of the better players on the market in Matt Holliday and Roy Halladay. The news that Toronto Blue Jays general manager J...

Dodgers Looking For A Reliever

Diamond Leung notes that during an interview with Seth Everett and Jim Duquette on Sirius XM Radio, Dodgers GM Ned Coletti said that his top priority is adding a bullpen piece. “If we’re assuming that everybody’s healthy from here on out, I would say that our top priority would be a bullpen piece, especially somebody with veteran stature. I think that would be No...
