If the Giants’ defense is having a communication problem, nobody has communicated that to the defensive coordinator.
Hard as that is to believe, that’s what I took out of a somewhat stunning exchange between the media and Giants defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan on Thursday, when he was asked about the obvious communication problem among his defensive players. And I say “obvious” not only because you can see the defensive backs talking/arguing with each other after far too many plays, but also because veteran players like Justin Tuck keep saying there’s an obvious communication problem.
What exactly do they mean by that? Sheridan, remarkably, said he doesn’t know.
“You have to ask them,” he said. “I don’t know what they are talking about. They haven’t come to me regarding that. I’m not trying to shut the question down but particularly I don’t know, you have to ask them. They could explain it to you, what they are referring to.”
