TEAMS: Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox
Ian Kinsler and Kevin Millwood were not selected as reserves for the All-Star team. Kinsler didn't make the club among a deep field of second baseman, and Millwood's snub -- and it is a snub -- is likely the result of AL manager Joe Maddon being required to pick one player from the White Sox (Mark Buehrle) and the A's (rookie Andrew Bailey). Maddon also took Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, who has won 10 games but carries a 4.30 ERA.
Hope is not lost for Kinsler, who is one of five players fans can select for the 33rd and final spot. Go to www.texasrangers.com or www.mlb.com and vote for Kinsler, who has 19 home runs, or send text VOTE to 1122. Voting begins in 15 minutes and runs through 3 p.m Thursday.
Michael Young is going back to the All-Star Game for a sixth straight year, courtesy of players balloting. He drove in the winning run in the 15-inning marathon last year at Yankee Stadium, and had the game-winning hit in 2006.
So ... Hamilton and Young to St...

I second Evan Grant's defense of Kevin Millwood
ESPN.com's Rob Neyer says Kevin Millwood isn't deserving of an All-Star bid, though he'll probably get one. Neyer uses fan graphs to illustrate that Millwood has left a large number of baserunners stranded and benefitted from defense. Basically, Millwood is pitching like he did in 2007 in most categories and getting lucky.
First, let me direct you to Evan Grant's defense of Millwood...
Halfway point: Rangers trail Angels by 1 game after 9-4 loss
Rangers ace Kevin Millwood got smoked, and Texas now trails the LA Angels in the AL West again by a game after Monday night's 9-4 loss.
Discussion points:
Are you concerned about Kevin Millwood? He's been less than effective in his last two starts.
Josh Hamilton had a couple of hits and ran the bases well. What did you think of his return? Would you rather see him at...
Pedroia beats out Kinsler to start at second
A late flurry of votes gave Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia the nod over Ian Kinsler in the starting lineup as decided by the fans.
We'll see if Kinsler is awarded a backup spot.
Josh Hamilton did make the starting outfield as expected.
Ian Kinsler needs your votes to make All-Star team
OF Josh Hamilton (starter) and 3B Michael Young (reserve as voted by players, managers and coaches) have already made the All-Star team (the game is Tuesday, July 14 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis) from the Rangers. Starter Kevin Millwood didn't quite make it. I really thought he deserved a bid, but there were plenty of pitchers to choose from and every team has to have a representative...
Up next for Angels: Monday vs. Texas
Coming off his worst outing of the season, Jered Weaver pitches against Kevin Millwood.
VS. TEXAS
Welcome back, Josh
Good and bad early.
Good - Michael Young continues to be the team's most consistent hitter, doesn't try to do too much with a pitch.
Good - Hamilton looked a little rusty but battled in his first at-bat off the DL, blooped one in and showed no rustiness on the basepaths, going from first to third and alertly getting home on the error.
Good - Hank Blalock continues to be...
Feeling like they’ve got it made
With a week of All-Star Game fan balloting left, Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia was in a nip-and-tuck battle with the Rangers’ Ian Kinsler.
Jones, Young propel Rangers past Rays 12-4
Andruw Jones homered and drove in four runs, Michael Young added a three-run double and the Texas Rangers roughed up David Price to win their fourth in a row, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 12-4 Saturday night.
Thoughts on the AL All-Star TeamYou can find the full roster here.In my opinion - Ian Kinsler definitely got jobbed by the selections. He should be the starting 2nd baseman. I'm a Red Sox fan but Dustin Pedroia doesn't deserve it this year. Kinsler was more deserving than his teammate Michael Young but Young got the nod probably because the team needed another 3rd baseman...
Rangers 5, Rays 2 (F)
Rangers sweep the Rays and remain tied for first place with the Angels as both teams are 10 games over .500. Rangers head to Anaheim now for three games.
Discuss:
Small ball. The Rangers had three RBIs on sacfrice flies and had productive outs to advance runners. They didn't get the huge knocks at times, but did what they had to do to score runs. This offense the last week...
