Sea-Rooks I am a bit late to the party on this piece due to vacation.  Nevertheless I wanted to take a moment to summarize what caught my eye watching the video’s and listening to all the press conferences on the Seahawks website. The good: ‘Tha Monstar’ Seattle Seahawks’ first fifth round draft pick, defensive tackle Jesse Williams,  has a huge upper body.  He uses his big barrel chest and his arms that are the size of most people’s thighs to create a powerful punch at the line. ‘The Canadian’ With their 3rd, and final, fifth round pick the Seahawks selected tight end Luke Willson.  There was not a lot of video of him playing floating around the internet at the time he was drafted. Willson was extremely impressive at mini-camp. (Photo: Windsor Star) Needless to say, I was a little more interested to see what he could do on the practice field during the rookie camp than I was a player like Jesse Williams. Willson was extremely impressive.  He brings a lot of speed from the tight end position and appears to have extremely soft hands for such a big guy. He’s going to be a project, however I think he has a solid shot at being a big part of what the Seahawks do this season on offense.  When you factor in his size and speed, it creates excitement about the matchup problems he could create. Future Backup QB? Jerrod Johnson isn’t your average rookie, trying to make it in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh the last two seasons.  Neither place worked out for him as he failed to make either teams 53-man roster. I don’t know if this year will be his year to make it in the NFL or If he will be disappointed yet again.  One thing I will say is that I was impressed with his posture, both in the pocket and at the podium. It doesn’t sound like much, however he reminded me of Russell Wilson in that aspect and you have to start somewhere. The bad: It Sucks Being On Vacation Sometimes I didn’t get to see enough.  I wish I had been able to watch all the practices and be able to really evaluate these players.  I think it would be a little premature to attempt to really evaluate these young players. Monday, the 21st of May, the Seahawks will hold their first of ten OTA workouts.  We will know a lot more about these rookies when they face some veteran players. Personally I am extremely excited to see the 2013 team together for the first time.  As long as Richards Sherman arrives by land and not by sea. From Seahawks.com For the most part, the draft choices were able to show just what the coaches expected when these players were selected. “We knocked out three good days here,” Carroll said. “We made a lot of progress.” Go Seahawks!
