Throw The Flag:
Did you watch the Outback Bowl between the Michigan Wolverines and South Carolina Gamecocks? Did you see the most hilariously ironic penalty ever? If not, here it is. The Michigan punter kicked a USC Gamecock in the head that sent him to the turf. Guess who got flagged for this? The Gamecock and not the Wolverine. Yeah, that’s how messed up the rules are in college football.
BEST OF MAXIM
After a questionable decision by Michigan to go for it on 4th down from their own 35-yard line, after they blocked a field goal, things got even more ridiculous. Michigan was short of the first down by a few inches, and the referees said that it was a first down. South Carolina Gamecocks Head Coach Steve Spurrier freaked out and challenged the play. The play stood as called...
Rawls' 63-yard TD run against Illinois in garbage time this season, was his career long, by far.
Emailer Mike writes:
Brad, no one, and I mean no one has said a word about Rawls not playing. Not you, not any of the other blogs, not the papers, not the radio, not TV, NO ONE! What gives?
Well Mike, Thomas Rawls' absence from the Outback Bowl was not widely reported...
If you happen to be looking for the first big college football hit of 2013, you need to check out South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney massive hit during the Outback Bowl against Michigan. Watch as the Wolverines go for it on 4th & 1 with a run play for running back Vincent Smith that ultimately gets stood up by Clowney. The hit was so fierce that Smith loses the ball along with his helmet:
When South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney met Michigan running back Vincent Smith in the backfield of yesterday’s Outback Bowl, Twitter seemed to freeze. Nothing else was going on in the world. Forget New Years, it was all about Clowney. The reactions were rampant, wild and very NSFW.
Some were simple, yet effective, like this from @_HoesLoveQuissy: CLOWNEY AGAIN! F*CK DEM NIGGAS...
South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney will more than likely be a top five pick once the 2014 season rolls around (of course barring any setbacks) and during Tuesday’s Outback Bowl we could see why. South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney is a veritable man among boys, and clearly one of the best—if not the best—players in college football on either side of the ball. You need look no further than this devastating, bone crushing, monster of a hit he laid on Michigan RB Vincent Smith in today’s Outback Bowl to know that what I speak is the truth.
And if that freakishly athletic...
Good Morning, welcome to the New Year. Jadevon Clowney was already on a shortlist of players that are already on the Heisman Watch for the 2013 season. The South Carolina Gamecock put on a show in the Outback Bowl, and had the hit of the year on Michigan’s Vincent Smith. Yes, Johnny Football might be back for his sophomore year, but let’s get the campaign going for Clowney to...
Tweet One of the great things about New Year’s Day, if you’re a college football fan, is the numerous bowl games featuring some of the nation’s best players and teams.
