It seems that Manchester United is going to be having a successful season again this year after a victory over Swansea City.  Their offense looked solid against a Swansea City team eager to win and with plenty of fan support. They will face much more difficult opponents this season, but this was a solid victory for their new manager David Moyes.   The star player of the game was clearly Robin Von Persie (RVP), but it must be mentioned that Danny Welbeck had an incredible game as well and showed a lot of promise as a striker. Normally playing on the left-hand side of the pitch he is the perfect compliment to Von Persie. His awareness on the field as well as ability to make tough passes and shots will not go away as the season progresses. I wouldn’t be surprised if he became   Wayne Rooney entered late into the game and got a solid 30 minutes of playing time, but didn’t look nearly as sharp as he has in previous seasons. He also seemed to have an attitude of arrogance and played with little vigor. It seems clear that if Welbeck continues to play well he may just take Rooney’s spot. I’m not ruling out a Welbeck – RVP duo upfront. The chemistry between the two players is strong. The tactical awareness of both players is among the best in the EPL.   Not only was it a great start for Manchester United, it was a stellar beginning for Danny Welbeck. We are certain to see more of him upfront in the games to come. Whether he gets the ball to RVP, Rooney, or chips the ball into the net himself, he is clearly ready to be one of the EPL’s top footballers this year.
