Found October 16, 2012 on The Colts Authority:
The Colts' 35-9 beatdown from the Jets on Sunday will lead to a lot of criticism this week, as the vast majority of the team played poorly. After a loss like that, most fans are left reminiscing about 2011, which isn't a pleasant place to be. But, before the week gets completely miserable, I'd like to take some time to spotlight the few players that actually played well, namely Jerry Hughes, Dwayne Allen, Coby Fleener, Anthony Castonzo, and Winston Justice. Jerry Hughes Hughes has been much maligned for his lackluster play during his first couple years in Indianapolis, but he's been playing well in 2012. So far this season, Hughes is second among 3-4 outside linebackers in Pass Rush Productivity, the measure from ProFootballFocus that measures quarterback pressures per snap. He hasn't finished the play and gotten the sack as often as you'd like, but he's been the most consistent pass rusher for the Colts this year. He stepped it up on Sunday, ge...

Richards: Indianapolis Colts Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen bright spots in gloom

Well, it's a bit of a slow day so far for finding good, current stories on the Colts.  Nonetheless, here's what I have so far: Phil Richards of The Indianapolis Star says Allen and Fleener have been bright spots in the Colts' gloom.  The two haven't been super productive, but remember that they're rookie tight ends.  For rookies at that position, they'...

A look back at Ballard

This Sunday Colts fans got their long-awaited look at Vick Ballard who started in place of the injured Donald Brown. Fans have routinely panned Donald Brown and Joe Addai before him for their lack of productivity. Ballard's approach is very powerful in contrast to the slashing style favored by both Brown and Addai. Naturally fans assumed this would lead to a better run game between...

1070: Andrew Luck is so Good, It's a Surprise When He Struggles

1070 The Fan's own Conrad Brunner, who many "older" Colts fans might remember from his days with the Indy newspaper is at it again, giving us some good stories on the Colts on an otherwise slow day.   Brunner says Andrew Luck is so good already, that it's surprising when he plays poorly.  There is also a telling breakdown of Lucks home and away QB ratings: ...

Brunner: Colts got Grounded and Pounded by the Jets

The Colts-Jets game was frustrating to watch, but we're going through with some links anyway. Conrad Brunner of 1070 The Fan broke the game down in his Hot Reads column, and in his earlier quick recap and box score.    It was eerily similar to the season-opening 41-21 loss in Chicago, as the Colts were plagued by shaky play from rookie quarterback Andrew Luck (two interceptions...

Colts Monday Musings: Let's talk about the Coaches

Well that was fun, wasn't it? A day after the Colts worst loss of the season, it's still hard to find many positives to take from their 35-9 thrashing courtesy of the New York Jets. Not only was yesterday's loss the result of a complete team effort: poor coaching, poor play by the offense and poor play by the defense, but the Colts also walked away from the game...

Mr. Irrelevant cut by Colts

The Indianapolis Colts needed to cut someone so they could sign tight end Weslye Saunders. Chandler Harnish was the victim. Harnish was drafted by the Colts with the final pick of the 2012 draft. The final pick of the draft gets dubbed the name Mr. Irrelevant and Harnish would certainly be considered that when you factor in the Colts also made the first pick of the draft, Andrew Luck...

AP: Indianapolis turns focus to fixing defensive woes

Michael Marot of the Associated Press talks about the Colts' need to fix some of their more glaring problems on defense: But the most glaring problem so far, has been the leaky run defense that has been exposed by the Jaguars and Jets and is likely to be exploited by Cleveland (1-5) again this week, if the Colts can't revise the script. "We missed a lot of tackles...

All-22 Analysis - Evaluating the Colts Defense, Week 6.

After an uplifting victory against the Packers in Week 5, the Colts travelled to Metlife Stadium in order to take on the Jets, a mediocre football team with some severe injury issues. The outlook from all and sundry was positive - we had started making plays on defense, which combined with the outstanding player we have at the QB position led to knee-jerk reactions with regards to...

Colts waive QB Harnish, sign TE Saunders

The Indianapolis Colts waived rookie quarterback Chandler Harnish and linebacker Jerry Brown, while signing former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Weslye Saunders. Tight end Dominique Jones was released from the practice squad. Harnish was the final pick of the draft in April, known as "Mr. Irrelevant," and has been inactive for the Colts' first five games this season...

Rapoza: Players We Expected More From

It's been an up and down month for the Colts, but it's a good time to look back on ... well, players not really holding their own. Kyle Rapoza's article isn't about pointing fingers due to a loss, but rather, about players who should have been better this year but haven't been. The last game may have exposed their weaknesses, but (for the most part), I agree with...

A letter to the Indy Star

Indianapolis Star October 15, 2012 Dear Indy Star, Pardon my French, but this really pisses me off.  Road Wimps?  Really?  I know you were just in New York, but let me fill you in on something…you’re back in Indiana.  Where Hoosier Hospitality is a thing.  And not just a thing…a real thing. I’m not one of those fans who thinks you can only say or write positive things...
