Adrian Beltre killed the Red Sox on Friday night, because of course he’s going to be the one to do it. It always seems like former Red Sox players do the most damage against their former club whenever they meet again, whether it’s Josh Reddick, Brandon Moss, Beltre or someone else from Boston’s past. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette does have one thing to feel positive about during Friday night’s game, though. Check it out in the above video. Join NESN Nation: In-game home page | Twitter | Facebook

Daniel Nava still looking for Ian Kinsler's home run (Video)

Boston Red Sox left fielder Daniel Nava stopped in his tracks after completely losing a home run ball by Texas Rangers leadoff batter Ian Kinsler during Saturday's MLB game in Arlington. Nava was so fooled that he was still looking for the ball after it had already landed in the stands. Your browser does not support iframes. Video via MLB. Visit us at holdoutsports...

Rapid React (5/2): Buchholz Dominant Again

Another day, another strong outing from Clay Buchholz. After shutting down Toronto to the tune of 7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 8 K/3 BB, Buchholz’s season ERA now sits at an incredible 1.01. I realize that there is no way he sustains that ERA and regression is imminent, but the real question is what kind of regression are we looking at?If you look at Buchholz’s PITCHf/x data, you’ll see...

Daniel Nava, Mike Carp, and David Ross - Important Puzzle Pieces

Daniel Nava, Mike Carp, and David Ross might not be the most well known Red Sox players, but they might be three of the most important players we have on our roster. Sure, everyone is talking about Mike Napoli, Clay Bucholz, or David Ortiz, and rightly so, but Nava, Carp, and Ross have to be included. Nava has been solid in the outfield for us, coming up with a couple of big home...

Holland gets support in quieting Red Sox

ARLINGTON, Texas Derek Holland turned in one of the Rangers' best individual pitching performances on Friday, but it was actually a team effort. Holland credited catcher A.J. Pierzynski, his defense and even the success of young starters like Justin Grimm and Nick Tepesch for his eight shutout innings against the Red Sox. Holland gave up six hits and a walk in the 7-0 win...

Ryan Dempster Stars as ‘Foreign National’ for Red Sox in Game Full of International Intrigue (Video)

The Red Sox beat the Blue Jays on Thursday night, but the game seemed to be the last thing on people’s minds as the two teams played. Instead, the drama unfolding seemed to focus on the supposed cheating being done by the Red Sox pitching staff, first Clay Buchholz and then Junichi Tazawa. That should continue to play out as the two divisional rivals battle for the rest of the...

Andrew Bailey Still Feeling Discomfort in Biceps, ‘Very Frustrated’ About Current Injury Situation

Andrew Bailey has stated all along that staying healthy for the entire season is his top priority. He’s now dealing with biceps soreness, though, and the reliever isn’t happy about the current situation. Bailey’s injury was revealed following the Red Sox’ 3-1 win over the Blue Jays on Thursday. Joel Hanrahan pitched the ninth inning of that contest to earn the save, which...

Red Sox Struggle on Offense Against Rangers, Remain Confident in Team to Close Out Series (Video)

The Red Sox have dropped the first two games in a three-game series with the Texas Rangers, and the Rangers have held the typically powerful Boston offense to just one run in two games. The Rangers have had their way with the Sox thus far, but third baseman Will Middlebrooks is confident his team will be able to get back in their groove on Sunday and close out the series with a...

Felix Doubront Not Concerned About Dip in Velocity, Pledges to ‘Just Move Forward’ From Loss (Video)

Felix Doubront allowed six runs against the Rangers, and things could have been a lot worse. The lefty allowed 12 hits in his 3 2/3 innings of work on Friday night, but escaped trouble in the early innings before running into it during a big fourth inning for Texas. After the game, he discussed a recent dip in his velocity, but didn’t seem all that concerned about it. He brushed...

Not quite how they Drew it up

Fans have been calling for Red Sox SS Stephen Drew's head after roughly three games as the starter. After missing much of Spring Training and the opening games of the season with a concussion, Jose Iglesias won over the hearts of fans. The young SS had to take a backseat however, once Drew returned to reclaim his position. Many people (including myself) thought that Iglesias...

Jack Morris Accuses Clay Buchholz of Loading the Ball

Blue Jays announcer and World Series MVP Jack Morris is accusing Clay Buchholz of throwing the spitball. Retired journeyman reliever and poor-man's CJ Nitkowski, Dirk Hayhurst echoed Morris' sentiments as well. For evidence Morris cites how Buchholz would touch his left forearm with his pitching hand before every pitch. Surely the only way Buchholz could defeat a then 10...

Dustin Pedroia's quiet storm

So far this season there hasn't been much of a laser show for the Boston Red Sox coming off the bat of their second baseman Dustin Pedroia. While Pedroia's power numbers are way down almost to the point of non-existence, he is still producing for the Sox just in other ways. Not unlike any other year Pedroia's defense is stellar and it's not like hes in any sort of...

David Ortiz Tweets Message to Former Teammate Hanley Ramirez, Who Just Returned From DL Stint (Photo)

Hanley Ramirez can only hope to replicate the production that David Ortiz has provided since returning from a stint on the disabled list. The Dodgers shortstop at least has Ortiz’s blessing, though. Ortiz sent out a tweet on Thursday afternoon wishing his “boy” the best of luck. Ramirez already returned with a bang — going deep in his first game on Tuesday and going 3-for...
