Alabama and Florida are at the top of the season's first BCS standings, making it yet another all-SEC top two, with Oregon and Kansas State close behind the Gators. The Crimson Tide in first was no surprise. Alabama is an overwhelming No. 1 in both polls used in the BCS formula. Florida in second was less anticipated. The Gators are No. 3 in the polls, but rated best by the computer rankings That gave them a slight edge over Oregon and Kansas State when the numbers were crunched. Florida's BCS average is .9092. Oregon's is .8993 and Kansas State's is .8963. Notre Dame is fifth and not too far back at .8774. Despite the strong showing by the Southeastern Conference, another all-SEC national championship game is still a long shot. Oregon's schedule is backloaded with strong opponents and the Ducks will likely be able to close the gap in the computers if they keep winning. Florida Starts at Number Two in BCS

Rushing, Defense Lead Bama Victory

The only thing that could stop Alabama in Columbia Saturday was a bolt of lightning. Even that merely delayed the inevitable. It looked as though Bama was playing in the shallow end, Missouri foundering in the deep end before a weather delay. Alabama saw three more key players go down with injuries this weekend on the road in a rainy Columbia, Mo. But AJ McCarron, Eddie Lacy and Christion Jones are expected to be OK, per head coach Nick Saban.

Defense Becoming Hardened to Deficits

The Gators have come from behind in four of their five SEC wins this season and they have complete of them in a businesslike manner. At his weekly Monday press conference, Alabama head coach Nick Saban gave an injury update, told reporters he was tired of talking about rankings and said he felt bad about not getting the intensity up enough after Saturday's rain delay in Missouri.

Practice Report: 10/16

Whether Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron has a slightly torn meniscus or not, he practiced Tuesday and was not limited in any way. However, he was clearly limping in between drills.
