SAN FRANCISCO- The 49ers are counting on defensive sophomore beast Aldon Smith to do big things for them this year.
That is why after surviving an injury-related scare during Friday night’s preseason opener against the Vikings, we probably won’t much if any of him at all for the rest of the league’s exhibition period.
Smith left the game with a hip issue that will put him on the shelf for this week’s game against the Houston Texans.
According to Coach Jim Harbaugh, Smith will be good-to-go sooner than later.
“We’ll see. He’ll be out for some time, Harbaugh said. Maybe a week or so. But I think he’ll be back in a week, but we’ll see.”
Smith could play in the third pre-season game against Denver although it would not make much sense to rush him back seeing that teams usually rest most of their starters for the fourth and final preseason game.
Smith has tweeted that he’s “ok” and truthfully if this was the regular season he probably would not miss any time.
