Tom Wilson forgot to keep his head on a swivel Tuesday night. The Capitals rookie turned in the best performance of his young career in a 6-2 rout of the Islanders, tallying a goal and an assist for his first NHL points (and narrowly missing out on a Gordie Howe hat trick when he turned down a fight with Isles bruiser Matt Carkner in the closing minutes). That output led a sizable media scrum to surround Wilson after the game, and Caps star Alex Ovechkin, who scored two goals of his own in the game, took advantage of the distracted 19-year-old. Ovechkin snuck up behind the winger and smacked him with a shaving cream pie to the face, laughing hysterically as Wilson struggled to wipe the gel from his eyes. Welcome to the league, rookie. Check it out Wilson’s initiation in the video below. Filed under: Headlines, NHL, Zack Cox
