New England Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard was arrested on suspicion of DUI (driving under the influence) early Thursday morning in Lincoln, NE. As we already know,  Dennard was sentenced back in April of this year to 24 months of probation, 100 hours of community service that must be law enforcement related and 30 days in jail to be served starting March 1, 2014 for an assaulting a police officer in April 2012. While they are two totally different cases, this DUI could result in him being jailed for violating his probation putting the Patriots in another awkward position. The Patriots are already in the spotlight because of the Aaron Hernandez case and now you have this. The Patriots did issue a statement on Thursday regarding Dennard: "The New England Patriots are extremely disappointed to learn of Alfonzo Dennard’s arrest. We take this matter very seriously and are working to get more information on the incident." Irregardless of whether or not he gets jail for a probation violation and the Patriots don't release him, Dennard is also likely to face a suspension from the NFL. And with training camp starting in a few weeks, the question now is will Dennard be there? I guess we'll find out when it starts. Follow Ian on Twitter @soxanddawgs.
