Alfredo Simon is suspect in murder case

Baltimore Orioles reliever Alfredo Simon is the main suspect in a fatal shooting on New Year’s Eve in the Dominican Republic, according to police.

Yahoo Sports - Simon was 4-2 with a 4.93 ERA and 17 saves last season

Felipe Alou Jr., a Dominican Republic representative for the Orioles, spoke with Simon on Saturday and the player said he was in the area for the shooting but was not directly involved.

There are unconfirmed reports that Simon plans on surrendering to authorities for questioning sometime today.

Simon went 4-2 with a 4.93 earned run average and 17 saves last season. His name had been brought up in discussion several times this off-season regarding trades.
