Jozy Altidore scored the lone goal to lead the United States past Honduras 1-0 Tuesday and a step closer to qualifying for the 2014 World Cup. The United States leads the six-team CONCACAF qualifying group with 13 points, ahead of Costa Rica with 11 and Mexico on eight with four games remaining. Honduras is fourth with seven points. The top-three teams advance to the World Cup, while the fourth team goes to a playoff with Oceania-winner New Zealand. After several second-half near misses, the United States got its goal in the 73rd minute when Altidore collected a pass from Fabian Johnson and beat Honduras goalkeeper Noel Valladares.
