Toronto_raptors_vs_4a05
Now that Andrea Bargnani is gone (well almost officially), everyone and their dog is going to be assessing his time as a Toronto Raptor. There has been a great deal of “throwing under the bus”, and bashing the Italian center, but personally, part of the blame as to go on the Raptors and the situation. As soon as David Stern called Bargnani’s name as the first pick, it was over. He was never going to be the player that we wanted him to be. He was not a number 1 guy. The draft sucked and the Raptors got stuck with the first pick. He had so much potential but he was never going to live up to the hype. The Raptors just seemed to hope he would go out and be amazing. He is a scorer and a playmaker. He was never gifted at playing defense or rebounding. But the Raptors hoped he would become that guy. If Bargnani falls down the list during that draft and goes to a different team, I think he has a career. He can pass like few can and his shot is pure. But the Raptors wanted him to be a center who plugged the lane and boarded. Oh and we beside Chris Bosh who did neither. Barganani was never given a mentor to bring out his talents. He was never developed by the team and now is getting ripped on for being lazy. Barganani never gave up on the team. He never pulled a Vince, a T-Mac or even a Bosh. He played hard and seemed to enjoy his time in Toronto. Injuries did him in. I think he goes to New York and lights up the floor with his “magic”. He won’t board or defend, but he will score and pass and make a few highlights per game. Thanks for the memories Andrea. I enjoyed you as a player and wish it could of worked out better.
