New Blackhawks forward Andrew Brunette is familiar to fantasy hockey fans. He is classic waiver-wire fodder, a power-play specialist known for his ability to score garbage goals with the man advantage.
The guy has hands. The wheels are another matter. At age 37, he won't beat many players up and down the ice.
"The one good thing for me is, it's tough to lose a step as you get older if you never really had one," Brunette told reporters during his introductory media session in Chicago. "I've been blessed with other abilities. I've been able to find a way to get to the spots I need to get to. I think I can get to certain areas and I'm as good as anybody in certain spots. Unfortunately, I'm a little slower than most to get there, but I get there eventually."
And he can knock pucks home. On a Blackhawks team loaded with offensive talent, he will be a 20 to 25-goal threat.
