Patrice Bergeron packed his bags and decided to head back to North America. Andrew Ference is now following suit. Ference has spent his NHL lockout playing some puck with Ceske Budejovice HC of the Czech League — the same team he played with during the 2004-05 lockout. The Bruins defenseman appeared in 21 games, but he’s now heading back to North America, perhaps in the hopes that the NHL’s labor dispute will soon be resolved. Ference tallied two goals and seven points during his stint overseas, and he also laced up the skates alongside some other NHL players, including Ales Kotalik, Vaclav Prospal, Milan Michalek, and Martin Hanzal. The Edmonton native took to Twitter on Sunday to show his appreciation toward the Czech fans, calling his last game with the squad one of his “most memorable nights of hockey.” Hopefully, he’ll have an opportunity to make some more memories on NHL ice sometime in the near future. Motor Fans, Mnohokrát děkuji! Jsi velice úžasný. One of my most memorable nights of hockey. Thank you for making it so special.Veselé Vánoce — Andrew Ference (@Ferknuckle) December 23, 2012
