Los Angeles Angels right-hander Jerome Williams remained hospitalized for part of the day Tuesday after being taken to UCI Medical Center on Monday night.

Williams was having breathing difficulties and apparently passed out in the clubhouse after being removed in the fourth inning of his start against the Giants on Monday. The Angels were not giving any details of Williams' situation other than to say he would continue to undergo tests Wednesday.

Williams posted a message on his Twitter account Tuesday afternoon saying he was feeling better, and he thanked fans for their support.

"We're just waiting for some direction from our medical department," said manager Mike Scioscia, who visited Williams in the hospital following Monday's game. "He's going through a bunch of tests, and we'll have more information. He's feeling much better. I think the important part is he's a little more relaxed than he was (Monday) night."

The rotation was already in flux with the pending return of Jered Weaver from the disabled list. He will start Wednesday against the Giants, with Dan Haren moving back to Friday. Beyond that, Scioscia said nothing has been decided. The Angels have off days Thursday and Monday, offering them some flexibility.

Rookie Garrett Richards has pitched well in a three-start cameo during Weaver's time on the DL. Richards might stick around longer now with Williams' return uncertain.

"We're not going to make any decisions until we find out exactly where Jerome is," Scioscia said Tuesday. "Certainly if he's out for a while, it's going to make some decisions for you.

"We can't get too far ahead of ourselves. We have to wait until we get some direction from our medical department on what's happening with Jerome and what the prognosis is."

The Angels' starting pitcher Tuesday, C.J. Wilson, wasn't sharp, but he emerged with the win in a 12-5 rout of the San Francisco Giants. Wilson allowed a season-high five runs (three earned) on a season-high 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings.
