By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor -  MAY 16, 2002 RAINOUT - ANGELS AT TIGERS DETROIT -- After a three-hour, 55-minute delay, the Angels game with the Detroit Tigers was rained out Thursday night at Comerica Park. No makeup date has been scheduled. The Angels are not scheduled to return to Detroit this season, but since the Tigers have one more trip to Anaheim, it's possible the makeup game will be played at Edison Field. After the long delay, Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski thanked Angels manager Mike Scioscia for his patience, then added: ``Go beat up on everybody else now that you're done beating up on us.'' Scioscia said he had no problem with the long delay because the team was hoping to play and does not need rest at this stage of the season. ``Now's not the time you're looking for a rainout,'' he said. ``Early in the season you don't need them. As it builds up to the grind of the season (having to play a makeu...

The Los Angeles Angels have recalled right-handed pitcher Billy Buckner from their Triple-A Salt Lake minor league affiliate to take on a middle-relief role with the parent club. Making room for  him on the active roster, Los Angeles designated right-handed pitcher Barry Enright for assignment. To remain with the organization Enright will have to clear the waiver wire process and...

Arte Moreno says there is 'zero' chance Angels will fire Scioscia

It looks like the "Fire Scioscia" crowd is going to have to put down their torches and pitchforks for awhile. Angels owner Arte Moreno broke his silence earlier today via comments to Jon Morosi of FoxSports.com and made it very clear that he has no plans to fire Mike Scioscia amidst the Halos current struggles. Moreno spoke to FOXSports.com outside Major League...

Enright, Lowe never give the Angels a chance in 9-5 loss to Kansas City

All the Angels want is a chance to turn things around but their thin, decimated roster just isn't affording them one. Take tonight for example. By the third inning the game was essentially over because of how far down the depth chart the Angels have had to go. Barry Enright, who is the ninth starting pitcher the Halos have used this year, once again proved that he has no...

Where's The Beef?

The state of Angels baseball, explained in commercials By Glen McKee, AngelsWin.com columnist -  Wow, it’s been a rough season so far and the light on the horizon is dim at best.  Injuries, bad contracts, uninspired play, and a lack of depth have conspired to give the Angels one of their worst starts ever and now even making the playoffs seems a Herculean task (and not...

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Albert Pujols, Howie Kendrick, Josh Hamilton and Mike Trout all homered off Jeremy Guthrie and the Los Angeles Angels handed the shell-shocked right-hander his first loss in a span of 19 starts with a 6-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night. Going...Going...Gone! Josh Hamilton Can Still Launch Balls Into Orbit

Fans of the Texas Rangers are not feeling too bad about letting Josh Hamilton go. The Angels outfielder has continued to struggle at the plate this season much like he did in the latter half of the season with Texas last year. Through 39 games he has 44 strikeouts to his name and in a tie for No. 12 in the league for most Ks (tied with Ryan Howard, Will MIddlebrooks, and Brandon...

The Angels are coming off a series defeat at the hands of the Royals and sit at 15-25, a full eleven games behind the Rangers...

Blowpen Strikes Again; Angels Lose to White Sox 5- 4

Games like this, I just can’t help but reminisce.  It’s just hitting me how spoiled we were back in the mid -2000s.  Pitchers like Scott Shields and K-Rod really don’t come around too often, and when they do it’s not long enough. Those were days, when the 8th and 9th innings were locked down by veterans, now we count on players you’ve never heard of (before this...
