Los Angeles Angels
New York Yankees
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Angels don't seem to be in a rush, even though June is halfway over and first place seems an ocean away. But every day they get closer to where they want to be.
It's a process, manager Mike Scioscia likes to say. Baby steps. One game at a time.
"We're not going to wake up tomorrow and be in first place, Scioscia said late Friday night. "But we have to wake up in the process tomorrow. Tonight was a great game.
Great in so many ways. The Angels beat the New York Yankees 5-2 with some capable pitching from C.J. Wilson, strong defense when they needed it and just enough clutch hitting to score single runs in the first, fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings.
In other words, it wasn't an explosion of offense. What the Angels did was small but meaningful.
Yes, they're a team built for power, but until Albert Pujols gets fully untracked and Josh Hamilton finds a way out of his prolonged slump, they'll have to find other ways ...
BEST OF MAXIM
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim second baseman, Howie Kendrick, is on pace to have the best season of his eight year career. Now, anyone would be happy with the season Kendrick is having when you look at his stats, which we will save for later in the article.
A follower of mine on Twitter today noted that they believed Kendrick should be a starter for the upcoming All-Star game. The...
It's been 14 months into recovery from Tommy John surgery and Los Angeles Angels pitcher Ryan Madson has finally reached the point where he is willing to try anything to get back on the baseball diamond — even Human Growth Hormone.
"If HGH were legal, just in the process of healing, under a doctor's recommendation, in the right dosage, while you're on...

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- C.J. Wilson outdid Andy Pettitte with seven effective innings, Albert Pujols and Mark Trumbo each had three hits and Chris Iannetta singled home the go-ahead run, leading the Los Angeles Angels to a 5-2 victory over the New York Yankees on Friday night.
Wilson (5-5) allowed two runs and five hits, struck out four and walked three while winning for only the...
The pinstripes need to check their bats for holes. The New York Yankees, for a better lack of a term, are absolutely awful right now. Many in the sports world are happy about this due to their hatred for the “Yanks” but it’s becoming a serious issue for New York, and they fell for the fifth day in a row, this time at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, by a final...

Hey, I remember this team. The decent starting pitchng. The shut down bullpen. The timely hitting and agressive baserunnig. The occasionally boneheaded play that ends up meaning nothing in the end. It's as if someone went down to the clubhouse and reminded Mik Scioscia what his teams used to excel at. Over the past two games the Angels have been the team on the offensive. Granted...

Coming off another series loss (this time to the Orioles), the Angels find themselves still 10 games under .500 (28-38). The Yankees (37-29) come to Anaheim who find themselves in third place in the AL East and on a three game losing skid courtesy of the Oakland Athletics.
The Angels desperately need wins – but so do the Yankees. The pitching matchups are as follows:
Andy Pettitte (5-3, 3.82 ERA) kicks off the three game series with the Angels and squares off against CJ Wilson (4-5, 4.02 ERA). Pettitte got his 250th career win in his last start, holding the Mariners to a run on three hits over 7 1/3 innings. He is 14-11 with a 4.49 ERA in 31 career starts against the Angels.
In Wilson’s last start against Boston, he gave up only four runs...
