Found March 12, 2013 on Pro Football Zone:
According to the Boston Globe, the Patriots’ number one player to re-sign is cornerback Aqib Talib. According to multiple sources, the Patriots would like to get cornerback Aqib Talib done soon. This makes sense for a few reasons: a) the Patriots don’t have any real cornerbacks beyond Alfonzo Dennard; b) the Patriots gave up a fourth-round pick for Talib so if he walks, it would look pretty bad; c) with a flooded market at cornerback, the Patriots are probably playing the, “You should take our deal because once you get out there, your price is only going to do down.” Whether Talib takes the bait could be a different matter, but like I wrote after the combine, the Patriots wants Talib back and he’s their top target at No. 1 cornerback. The Patriots know they need to retain Talib because he’s a top-notch corner.  If they had to go out and sign a player of his caliber, they’d likely be forced to spend more money.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

Peter King: “Widely believed” Wes Welker will re-sign with the Patriots

According to Peter King of SI.com, it’s “widely believed” that wide receiver Wes Welker will re-sign with the New England Patriots. Welker simply isn’t going to get the kind of money that he’s looking for on the open market.  There’s also no guarantee that he’ll be very effective with another NFL offense.     Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function()...

Report: Wes Welker deal with Patriots Nowhere close to being Done

  Free agent wide receiver Wes Welker and the New England Patriots reportedly seem to be on two different pages when it comes to his value as a free agent. At 32, Wes Welker has thrived as a slot receiver in New England, totaling over 100 receptions 5 out of the last 6 seasons. But, at 5’9 and on the downside of his career when you historically look at receivers in their 30′s...

Hoomanawanui Signing; Signs Welker's Out?

Patriots make a small tender to restricted free agent tight end Michael Hoomanawanui. The deal pays only 1.3 million for 2013 and offers the Patriots an upside at tight end if injuries occur. Some reports have Hernandez moving close to Brady to "learn the slot position" in the case Welker goes elsewhere. Hernandez moving to slot would free up a tight end spot for Michael...

Wes Welker Expected To Test The Free Agent Market

Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald reports that talks between the Patriots and free agent WR Wes Welker have ended for the day. Welker is expected to test the open market, while the Patriots could start looking at alternative options. The consensus remains that Welker is more likely to re-sign with the Patriots, but there’s now a better chance than ever that he could be playing...

Patriots owner Robert Kraft on free agent-to-be Wes Welker: ‘We want him for life’

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft seems to understand the importance of keeping a guy like Wes Welker in the fold long-term.

Hold the presses! Bill Belichick's on Twitter! Kind of..

Massholesports.com Wait, what? Yes, you read that right. Bill Belichick hopped onto twitter for a brief moment to field questions from Patriots fans. Only he did in under the guise of Linda Holliday - the woman he is dating. Is twitter the perfect platform for Bill Belichick? A place where short, succinct answers are seen as the norm instead of completely rude? Perhaps it is...

Robert Kraft 'really' wants receiver Wes Welker back

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said last month that he wants free agent wide receiver Wes Welker back for next season. Nothing has changed, except maybe an addition of the word "really."While speaking with reporters in New York on Monday, Kraft emphasized his desire to have the Pro Bowler return. “We want Wes. We really do,” Kraft told Bart Hubbuch of the New...

So, apparently the Patriots haven't even made an offer to Welker yet

We've heard an awful lot of back and forth on this. Mainly it's been that Welker was mad that the Patriots "disrespected" him early in the season when they reduced his role. We also heard that he wanted to test free-agency. For the Patriots part, Robert Kraft's made it clear that he is all about Welker retiring as a Patriot. Of course, the whole time we'...

Hot microphone catches Warren Sapp dropping a whispered f-bomb about Bill Belichick

Live television has its downfalls. The biggest being people saying how they really feel without knowing that viewers can hear them.Hannah Storm and Mark Schlereth wouldn’t openly talk about Tim Tebow’s limited NFL future live on air. But when they think the camera isn’t rolling, they will.Likewise, Warren Sapp wouldn’t openly criticize the NFL Network for going with the “f...
