Knee problems will put an end to Houston Astros catcher Jason Castro's 2013 campaign.  He had been battling knee issues off and on for much of the season, and he has a long history of problems.  Now, Castro will be shut down for the rest of the season with what is being called knee discomfort. Brain McTaggart of MLB.com says Castro was officially placed on the 15-day DL yesterday, thus ending his season.  Castro aggravated the knee in early September and hasn't played since September 7th.  Castro was diagnosed with a cyst in his right knee earlier in the season.  That had caused him some discomfort and had to be drained. As the Astros work on rebuilding, they will need healthy players who can provide longevity and production.  Castro may not fit that bill, but the Astros will stick with him.  He is just 26 years old and is going to hit just his first year of arbitration-eligibility next season.  If he can get a handle on his knee problems, the Astros can certainly use him. Castro missed the entire 2011 season after undergoing knee surgery.  He has been plagued by problems since before his Major League career even began.  However, he has proven himself valuable behind the plate.  This season, Castro made the American League All-Star team.  He hit .276/.350/.485 this season.
