Much of the conversation around this site of late has centered on just how obsessed the Matt Kenseth fans are. It's as if they compensate for their hero's quiet demeanor by being hardcore lunatics. And friends, the bar has just been raised. This past weekend at Talladega, 17 Kenseth fans passed the ultimate test of fan loyalty: they got tattoos of their man. That's Kenseth in the middle of the picture in the yellow hat, looking a little bemused at the whole thing. The tattoo deal was a promotion with Jeremiah Weed, the tasty alcoholic beverage, and participants could get a tattoo of Kenseth's autograph, the number 17 or a Jeremiah Weed "Lightning Lemonade" can. And, no joke, exactly 17 fans agreed to get a permanent tattoo. (The 17th fan was Kenseth's spotter Mike Calinoff, who captured his experience on video here.) In gratitude for the tattooees' dedication, Jeremiah Weed donated $5,000 to the Air Force Enlisted Village charity, designed to help...

NASCAR;Kenseth knows patience to be tested at Martinsville

You wouldn't think that maintaining a calm disposition would be a problem for Matt Kenseth. Ever. Like, those drinks designed to keep people energized for five hours don't get the Roush Fenway Racing driver through breakfast. But, Kenseth says, there are a couple of occasions during the Sprint Cup season when even his cyborg-like demeanor is tested. And with Sunday'...

Matt Kenseth’s greatest hits, Martinsville edition

Is there any driver whose public profile has changed for the better this season more than Matt Kenseth? Despite his nickname "Flatline" (which, uh, we gave him here), he's proven to be one of the funniest drivers in NASCAR, with a one-liner for every possible situation. On Friday at NASCAR, he was hopped up on coffee and in top form, starting with his inquiry to Jimmie...

Will Edwards, Kenseth work as a team?

Roush Fenway Racing's rise to the top of the standings could make for an interesting season finale come Homestead-Miami Speedway. With just 14 points separating Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, will it be brains or brawn that perseveres four races from now? It would be difficult to find a driver as physically fit as Edwards. The 32-year-old is...

Yes, That Redneck Got A Free Jeremiah Weed/Matt Kenseth Tattoo

We love NASCAR rednecks because (a.) they’re usually drunk (b.) are usually into something crazy while drunk (c.) get drunk, get free tattoos and then realize the next day they have a malt beverage logo tatted on their ribcage. The Jeremiah Weed group (full disclosure: they once sent me 3 cans and, the next morning, have never been so sick in my life) was at Talladega this weekend...

Jack Roush: Trevor Bayne Was Not Ordered to Work With Ford Driver Matt Kenseth at Talladega

Almost everyone involved admits it looked kind of odd. With a few laps to go in the Good Sam Club 500, Trevor Bayne looked like he was all lined up to draft with Jeff Gordon on a restart in the restrictor plate race on Sunday. As the green flag was waved, though, Bayne moved over to run with fellow Ford driver Matt Kenseth. Gordon, who was in contention to win the race, was forced...

Newton: Edwards, Kenseth just hunky-dory

They're not the best of friends, but teammates Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth are in a good place these days. Running 1-2 in the Chase has its benefits.

Video: Is this the end of Jimmie Johnson’s reign? (Spoiler: yes.)

Is Jimmie Johnson's reign atop the NASCAR world over and done with? Sure looks like it. Your favorite NASCAR Jays, Hart and Busbee, discuss that issue and oh so much more this week, including how strong Carl Edwards will be and whether Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski and Tony Stewart can make a run at the title. Enjoy!

Driver standings after 32 of 36 races

With four races to go it has come down to about a five driver battle for the championship. Carl Edwards continues to lead and has a 14 point advantage over Matt Kenseth, 18 over Brad Keselowski, 19 over Tony Stewart, … Continue reading →

Bayne not told to leave Gordon for Kenseth

Daytona 500 champion Trevor Bayne says there were no last-minute team orders for him to abandon Jeff Gordon to work with fellow Ford driver Matt Kenseth in the final two laps of Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway.

SPENCER: Think For Yourself

Trevor Bayne should have drafted with Jeff Gordon at Talladega and not bailed on him in favor of Ford teammate Matt Kenseth...
