Another Denver-area professional athlete is drawing attention with the way he celebrates. First there was "Tebowing" - a term coined in respect to the way Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow takes a knee at the conclusion of contests. Now, Colorado Avalanche rookie Gabriel Landeskog has provided the latest Rocky Mountain craze - "Landeskoging." "I think it's pretty funny," Landeskog told NHL.com of his now-signature pose. "I think it's our fans and how great they are with coming up with funny things and how involved they are. It's a lot of fun. Denver is a great sports city with the fans, social media and everything." "Landeskoging" wasn't a planned pose - merely what transpired after the second overall pick scored an overtime goal against the Anaheim Ducks on Monday. Landeskog, who was questionable for the contest with the flu, fell face-down on the ice with fists clenched near his head after scoring the goal....

"I didn't have any energy. Then when I scored I was just so relieved I fell to the ice." -- Gabriel LandeskogThat's what Avalanche rookie Gabriel Landeskog did on Monday when he scored the OT winner against the Anaheim Ducks. Since then, thanks to the Twitter world, Landeskoging has become a poular term. This was the initial tweet by Gabriel Landeskog that got...

Avs win; Rangers' East lead nearly gone

The young and pesky Colorado Avalanche are starting to look up in the Western Conference playoff race. Back in the East, the slumping and veteran-laden New York Rangers have their focus squarely behind them. Semyon Varlamov made 41 saves, and rookie Gabriel Landeskog scored the deciding goal in the Avalanche's 3-1 victory over the Rangers on Saturday night. Varlamov was the...

Avalanche 3, Rangers 1

Colorado rookie Gabriel Landeskog broke a second-period tie, and Semyon Varlamov made 41 saves to lift the Avalanche over the sliding New York Rangers 3-1 on Saturday night. Landeskog gave the Avalanche the lead, and Varlamov made it stand up as playoff-hopeful Colorado finished a 2-0-1 Eastern road trip. The Rangers' once seemingly comfortable lead in the Eastern Conference...

my take on the rookie of the year race

Today, as I listened to sports talk radio here in Vancouver, I heard the name Gabriel Landeskog and the words 'rookie of the year' mentioned in the same sentence. While Landeskog and the rest of his teammates on the Colorado Avalanche are getting a lot of attention with their resurgent play of late, I believe it is premature to hand Landeskog the trophy just yet. Landeskog...

Guest Post: Rangers/Avalanche in review

Last night none of us could get the recap, so we reached out to Glen Miller, who has done some terrific recaps here before, and he was more than happy to write last night’s recap. Thanks Glen, great stuff as usual. Make sure to follow Glen on Twitter. That is exactly how fans of other teams have felt so often after Hank has stolen a game from them. Colorado Avalanche G Semyon...

Brodeur and Giguere Battle Like It’s 2003

If anyone caught the Devils game last night, you witnessed an old-school goaltender duel between Martin Brodeur and Jean-Sebastien Giguere of the Colorado Avalanche. Both goalies pitched shutouts for the game, and the 0-0 battle would need to be decided in a shoot out. Brodeur made 27 saves while Giguere finished with 33. Both goalies made numerous stops and big saves to give their...

Shaune Vetter: I Guess Tonight IS The Most Important Game Of The Season...

Last night there were two teams in particular that could have really helped the team's post season hopes. In Buffalo, the Sabres faced the Colorado Avalanche. Things looked good as the Sabres were ahead and about to do the Flames a big favour when Gabriel Landeskog showed once again why he's quickly becoming the Calder favorite by leading his club when it needed it most as...

Aaron Musick: Avs get lucky on St. Patrick's Day

With names like O'reilly, O'Byrne, O'Brien and McClement, there was reason to think the Avs might be a lucky team on St. Patrick's Day. Fans didn't know how right they might be when the Avs won 3-1, despite only 20 shots on the game. Gabriel Landeskog tipped in the game-winning goal on the Avs' tenth shot of the game. He was left all alone in front of...
