I’m soooo happy Danny Ainge didn’t my favorite Celtic RAAAAAAJJJJOOOONNN RONDOOOOOOO
It’s tough to spend time on Mets minutia today with trying to finish up loose ends at work and get ready for what should be one of the best nights Madison Square Garden has seen in quite a while as the Rangers and Flyers meet tonight and the Giants-Jets get together tomorrow and the Knicks-Celtics start the NBA season on Christmas, it’s hard to get worked up over Rob Johnson signing a minor league deal to fight for a backup catcher spot with the Mets .
I am pumped up for tonight’s Rangers-Flyers match up at MSG. Between the way the Rangers have been playing along with all the hype of HBO’s 24/7 (I need to tape Coach Tortorella’s between periods ass ripping of his team against the St Louis Blues last week ************ screw it on straight, screw it on and let’s get ready to go each shift” has become my new mantra I’ve been using
BEST OF MAXIM
Anthony McCarron interviewed Daniel Murphy, who gave updates on his knee injury, Christmas plans and hopes for the 2012 Mets.
“I feel great,” Murphy says. “I kind of polished off my rehab about a month ago, moved into more of a strengthening phase. I’ve had a real good offseason and I feel really good. I’ll be full-bore in spring training.”
“It always takes people...
A lot of good people write about the Mets so I reached out to some of my friends in the blogosphere and asked them to answer the following question in 100 words or so.
If Fred Wilpon handed you the keys to the franchise on December 23, 2011 – what is the first thing you would do and why?

If Fred Wilpon handed me the keys to the franchise today...
In a report for the New York Post, Josh Thole says:
“I didn’t have a tremendous year by any means (in 2011). … Every year for me, that’s what it’s going to be about — I’m going to have to prove myself every day in spring training and just show I can catch 162 games.”
In 114 games last season and 386 plate appearances, Thole hit .268 with a .345 OBP, 20 doubles and...
This has been a year of challenges, and among the latest is that the family treadmill is broken. This frustrating because it is not all that old, and it's been a staple of my effort to first lose weight and then to keep it off.The replacement part costs nearly as much as a new machine, so I dragged my wife and daughter to four sporting goods stores one night this week. This, after...
Carlos Beltran agreed to a two year deal worth 26 million with the Cardinals last night, making him the third major OF to sign within the last two weeks (the others being Willingham and Cuddyer). For Carlos, he goes to a National League team, avoiding his fear about being regulated to the DH and he [...]
Josh Thole is getting an early jump on spring workouts. After a lackluster 2011 season in which he struggled defensively, the Mets catcher will head to Dallas within the next two weeks to begin workouts with the organization’s catching coordinator, Bob Natal.Thole said he expects to spend four...
Marc Topkin handicaps the chances of Carlos Beltran joining the Rays. According to Topkin, Carlos is looking for $36 to $39 million for three years. At that price, the Rays would likely get a good deal and a very good bat in the middle of their lineup.
To all of you drafting 2012 Blue Jay projected lineups with Carlos Beltran hitting cleanup, wrong color bird. So today's lesson is simple:World Series rings are a great recruiting tool.
Fred Wilpon, Saul Katz seeking to sell $200 million worth of shares in team
The New York Mets have agreed to a minor league contract with catcher Rob Johnson and invited him to spring training.
The Mets announced the move Thursday.
The 28-year-old Johnson batted .190 (34 for 179) with six doubles, one triple, a career-high three homers and 16 RBIs in 67 games for the San Diego Padres last season.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Johnson has hit .197 (128 for 649...
Carlos Beltran may choose his next team by the weekend and he has many suitors to consider. The Cardinals, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Rays and Indians are all "seriously in the mix" for Beltran, according to Scott Miller of CBSSports.com. Here’s the latest on Beltran, who’s open to DHing part-time...
The Cardinals intensified their talks with Beltran last night and into...
Editor's note: Lauren Edwards is a member of NESN's production team and contributed this story to NESN.com. Aldo Lamberti knew exactly what to do when he heard the NBA lockout was officially on. He called Celtics GM Danny Ainge. "I left him a message," said Lamberti, who manages Sports Grille Boston on Canal Street. "I told him we got to get this done. People...
He could have shaken Danny Ainge’s hand last spring, thanked him for four good years in green and moved on to another city and another challenge. The Celtics were coming off a truncated season, a lockout was looming, and exit visas seemed possible for several players. But Ray Allen has been around the league long enough - 15 seasons with another starting Sunday - to know when he’s...
