A day after being dominated by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and C.J. Wilson, the Oakland A’s returned the favor on Sunday afternoon behind a complete game shutout from All-Star Bartolo Colon. Matched up against Jerome Williams, Colon was easily the star of the day, mixing his fastballs and occasional off-speed pitches with authority en route to his 13th win of the season. The A’s were without Yoenis Cespedes again – the outfielder has missed all three of the games since his Home Run Derby victory after injuring his left wrist before Friday’s game. The official word from the team remains scant on details, but many (including A’s manager Bob Melvin) are confident that the injury is unrelated to Cespedes’ Derby participation.
