Chicago Bears rookie firs round pick offensive lineman Kyle Long will be playing catch up after missing the entire offseason training program. Due to NFL rules pertaining when a draftee graduation happens, Long was subject to miss the offseason because he graduated in June. He now goes into training camp having to learn a new playbook and offense while his teammates have bee immersed for months. Long is athletic enough to play tackle, but the Bears drafted him to play right guard, which is where he'll compete with James Brown as part of an reshaped offensive line. "I'm just going to go out there and work my tail off, take in the playbook, immerse myself in the offense and hopefully good things will happen," Long said, via ESPN Chicago. “Put yourself in my shoes. I wasn’t allowed to go to OTAs,” Long said. “I haven’t seen anyone else on our offensive line. They are all NFL players so obviously I have a tremendous amount of respect for the other guys in the offensive line room. I’m looking forward to getting to work with those guys, great vets like [Roberto] Garza and [Jermon] Bushrod.”
