The announcement for Brian Urlacher’s retirement came unexpectedly after he visited several teams this offseason, but he ultimately decided to hang up the cleats. He is one of a few rare legends of the game that played their entire careers for one team.
In the past, when players left a team or retired, they’d take out an ad in the papers thanking the team. This time, the Bears flipped the script.
Long-known for their solid Linebackers, Urlacher was no different in the middle of the Bears defense for 13 seasons, and for that the Bears thanked him by running a full-page ad in the Chicago Tribune.
The ad says “Few play for a storied franchise. Even fewer write their own chapter.”
