Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler told reporters yesterday that he will be ready to play this weekend when his team faces the Green Bay Packers in a pivotal NFC North showdown, reports Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. Jay Cutler didn't look stiff Wednesday from the neck injury that knocked him out of the fourth quarter of Sunday's road loss to the Vikings and said he will be ready for Sunday's showdown with the Packers. Cutler sustained a neck injury, that some feared to be another concussion at the time, during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s contest against the Minnesota Vikings. He received a hit, which was deemed illegal, above the neck by defensive lineman Everson Griffin. While the quarterback was able to finish the drive, he watched the remainder of the game from the sidelines. It eventually came out that Cutler was dealing with a neck injury, and he said earlier in the week that he expected to play. It now appears that he’s upgraded himself to probable, so it’s unlikely he misses the matchup against the Packers. Lovie Smith denies that Jay Cutler has an MCL sprain

Last night it was reported that Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has a sprained MCL. When addressing the media today, Bears head coach Lovie Smith denied that Cutler has such an injury. “What knee?” Smith said when asked about Cutler’s knee injury. But the knee injury is legitimate and that is why the team has listed Cutler with a knee injury on the report. “Jay is good to go...

Packers won't have Woodson back for Bears game

Jay Cutler can't catch a break this season. Clay Matthews was back at practice Wednesday for the first time since pulling his hamstring last month, and he's eager to terrorize the Bears quarterback again Sunday when the Green Bay Packers (9-4) travel to Chicago. The Packers can clinch the NFC North title with a victory over their biggest rivals. ''When you have...

Griffen, Allen see shrinking targets for QBs

Defensive linemen Jared Allen and Everson Griffen know that the target area for a quarterback hit isn’t very large. Griffen maintains he didn’t do anything wrong during a hit on Jay Cutler, but he’s not going to let a potential fine alter his aggressiveness.

It’s Deja Vu All Over Again for the Chicago Bears

Injuries have played a role in the Bears recent struggles. But this version of the Bears yearly collapse has many other factors. One way or another, the Bears always seem to find a way to fall short of their potential. Whether it be injuries, play calling, personnel, or Father Time, every aspect seems to make a yearly appearance at one point or another and derail the season. This...

Matthews Returns But Woodson Out vs. Bears

The last time Clay Matthews faced Chicago, he dropped Jay Cutler for 3.5 sacks. Rather than rush back from his hamstring injury, Matthews and the training staff kept the "big picture" in mind during his four-game absence. The "big picture" also is in play with Charles Woodson.

Lack of a True Tight End Hurting the Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears have very rarely been known for their offense throughout the history of the NFL.  The Chicago Bears have always been a franchise known for their defensive prowess and superstars.  The 2012 season has been no different for the Bears. The defense has been very solid for the most part, while the offense has really struggled to find its footing and get any kind of...

Banged Up Bears Fighting Through Late Season Injuries

Much like their early season success on the football field in number of games won, the Bears successfully avoided a lot of injuries.  That is no longer the case with this team facing a rash of injuries with three games left to play in the regular season.   In total the Bears have 14 players listed on the injury report for the game against the Packers.  11 of those player...
