A Kentucky high school senior is the new owner of the national record for most three-pointers in a single game. She goes by the name of Becca Greenwell, and she tallied a whopping 17 of them on Monday. The Owensboro Catholic star connected on 17 of her 28 shots, all from behind the arc, during her team's 99-35 thrashing of Whitesville Trinity High. Her 51 points proved to be a career high. She also added nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals, just for good measure.Greenwell's unprecedented performance was perhaps aided by the defense employed by her opponent, as well as the fact she is still recovering from a knee injury with which caused her to miss the entire 2011-12 campaign."They played a 2-3 zone," Owensboro Catholic coach Ray Zuberer told MaxPreps. "She was a little bit leery of attacking the basket so we set her on the perimeter. As they began to challenge her, she just kept moving farther and farther back."Greenwell is widely considered as the top women's basketball player in Kentucky. And that is saying something for a state rich in basketball tradition. She is set to continue her career at Duke University once her time at Owensboro Catholic is complete.Via Prep Rally
