Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict was fined $31,000 by the NFL on Friday for two unnecessary roughness violations.
Burfict had hit defenseless Packers receiver James Jones in the head and neck area, which cost him $21,000, and then struck Green Bay tight end Ryan Taylor, costing him $10,000.
Bengals teammate George Iloka was fined $15,000 for unnecessary roughness when he struck a defenseless player, tight end Jermichael Finley, in the head and neck area.
Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown received $15,750 in fines for two unnecessary roughness violations: $7,875 for a late hit on Bears safety Chris Conte, and $7,875 for a face mask on Sherrick McManis.
Titans linebacker Moise Fokou was docked $7,875 for unnecessary roughness for a face mask violation.
The NFL also fined Panthers quarterback Cam Newton $10,000 for wearing clips on his helmet visor featuring the Under Armour logo.
Although the clips that attach Newton's clear visor to the helmet are small and ...

According to Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Steelers will remain committed to running the ball despite the absence of rookie RB Le'Veon Bell and TE Heath Miller. Coupled with the loss of center Maurkice Pouncey for the year has further depleted the ability to be a strong running team.
The Cincinnati Bengals have now released their first injury report for the week as they prepare to host the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday night and a veteran offensive lineman appears to be close to returning for them.
Starting left tackle Andrew Whitworth (knee) was limited Thursday and is getting closer to returning to action. Whitworth, who reportedly had setback a few weeks ago...
Andy Dalton fit a sideline throw between two defenders, dropping it just over the one in front for a completion. He made a pump-fake and hit A.J. Green for a 45-yard touchdown.
Virtually everything he did was right on the mark in the Cincinnati Bengals' season opener, an impressive showing that got overlooked in how it ended.
The third-year quarterback completed a career-best...
The Cincinnati Bengals Saturday injury report doesn't include any real surprises and it looks like head coach Marvin Lewis only has one tough decision to make Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After being limited all week in practice, starting left tackle Andrew Whitworth was listed as questionable on the Saturday injury report and appears to be a game time decision...
The reviews came streaming in. Andy Dalton played great. Offensive coordinator Jay Gruden called it one of the best games the young QB played for Cincinnati. Marvin Lewis doled out compliments.
Even the numbers indicated Dalton played like a quarterback taking the next step in the opener. Dalton set a career high in completion percentage (78 percent) against a Bears team that finished...
Joliet, IL- It was an all around rough day for rookie Kyle Larson.
After spinning off Turn 2 in his qualifying attempt this morning for today’s Dollar General 300, he was forced to start 39th.
Larson fought his way through the field and looked to turn his afternoon around. He moved all the way up to 15th in the first 16 laps and put himself in position to actually win. He found...
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green is certainly one of the tops in the league currently and it will be up to Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor to make sure that he does not have a performance anywhere close to one he had in the Week 16 game last year.
Taylor of course missed that game with a fractured ankle and Green proceeded to catch 10 passes for 116 yards as...
Week two is upon us and after the performance we saw on Sunday, one has to be worried about this game, which will be in prime time, on Monday night.
About the only good that came out of Sunday was that the rest of the division lost their games, so the Steelers are still tied for the division lead. Aside from that, a lot of the concerns I wrote about last week were proved to be genuine...
The Pittsburgh Steelers spent a decade watching linebacker James Harrison wreak his own unique brand of havoc on an opponent's backfield.
Now the Steelers will get a chance to see how the other half lives.
Harrison signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in the offseason and will face his former team on Monday night. The five-time Pro Bowler says it is just another game on the schedule...
Pittsburgh Steelers (0-0) at Cincinnati Bengals (0-0)
I feel like I say this every week, but Andy Dalton is 1-11 in his career against future playoff teams in his first two years in the league, completing 250 of 445 (56.2%) for 2934 yards (6.6 YPA), 12 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, including two post-season losses. In his other 22 games, he’s 420 of 679 (61.9%) for 4518 yards...
Former Steelers pass-rushing superstar James Harrison challenged Ben Roethlisberger, but this time subtly.
