QB: Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins: If RGIII ran for mayor of DC tomorrow he would win, in a landslide. The Heisman trophy winner lived up to the hype, playing like a seasoned veteran throughout the season and leading the Redskins to an NFC East championship. Griffin will be competing with fellow quarterback Andrew Luck for rookie of the year honors. If RGIII can stay healthy, Washington will be a Super Bowl threat for years to come. RB: Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins: When Washington traded Donovan McNabb to the Minnesota Vikings for a sixth-round pick, they probably did not expect to get a franchise running back. But that is exactly what they got, with Morris breaking the Redskins single season rushing record in his rookie season. Although not highly wanted out of Florida Atlantic, Morris is making NFL GMs kick themselves for passing up on him… 5 times. WR: TY Hilton, Indianapolis Colts: Hilton’s development throughout the season is one of the main reasons Andrew Luck set the rookie record for most passing yards. Hilton finished third on the team in receptions, second in reception yards, first in yards per catch, and firstin touchdowns. The speedy 5’9 receiver out of Florida International had trouble catching the ball at the beginning of the year, and many analysts wrote him off for his size and bad hands. Now, the third-rounder is looking like he should have been taken a little bit earlier. TE: Dwayne Allen, Indianapolis Colts: Allen was the best rookie tight end all year, and he is one of the numerous young players that helped the Colts make the playoffs this season. Allen saw his targets continue to raise throughout the season, and don’t be surprised if he and Andrew Luck develop a Tom Brady-Rob Gronkowski type relationship. Def: Luke Kuechly, Carolina Panthers: Kuechly had one of the best rookie seasons for a defender in recent memory. He led the entire NFL in total tackles with 164, which is 15 more tackles than the next closest man on the list. Although the Panthers had a down year, they have young studs on both sides of the ball, and should be able to add another key piece in this year’s draft. Look for Kuechly to only get better as he gains more experience. -Langer
